Yea, it was just crappy timing. I can't remember Carter fumbling ever before that.. At minimum losing a fumble
I stand by it. He was pedestrian in all but a few games and it was our ground game and defense that was getting the job done.. and he was getting worse.. He was a big part of the Steelers and Dolphins victories, his first two games back after injury. From then on he became either a passenger (110, 121 and 154 passing yards in three wins) or a hindrance (three INTS, 77 yards in two defeats). That is winning in spite of and losing because of.
I like Bam but he’s just enough in the run game to at least be solid. He’s not Breece nor does he have the appropriate burst to be a big time asset. He’s absolutely apart of this rotation but honestly he doesn’t have the big time burst. Ty Johnson is currently the guy who has the burst but the staff doesn’t appear to give him the role (maybe he’s not great in pass pro). MC simply lacks the burst to be a big time factor. And also, the OL simply hasn’t done enough to open up holes. I do think the Jets have become a bit predictable with their runs. White seems to be doing good enough to offset the deficiencies with the run game, but I’d imagine he would do much better if the run game had better success so MLF needs to figure that out.
I mean that will happen to any team down by two scores come the second quarter. Doesn’t matter who the OC is.
You can’t put the intake in first pats game but not the yards. All of you were complaining Zach was north throwing for 300 yds / game. The first pats game was lost due to the defense. JFM doesn’t fought he passer, we into half time ahead 17-3. After he did that, we go in 10-6, next time O touched ball, it was 13-6. O struggled after that, but d also let pats control clock, move down the field and then kick three field goals. Kind of looked like Buffalo game. Difference, in second half, Zach made a beyond stupid throw on a throw away. Then got frustrated and took a stupid shot down field. Compare that to buffalo, Whit checked down and wasted clock while not giving team any real chance to win. Different sides of same coin. Lost both games.
Yeah, and also prior to Minny Berrios was shore handed WR who never dropped balls that hit him in the chest. Now he dropped two of these, both in critical situations. It just feels like we have done enough to win these games, but were denied by very rare circumstances. Hopefully we can work these out soon - there is no more room for error this Sunday.
Center Connor McGovern called Mike White "the epitome of what hopefully everyone in this locker room is willing to do to win."
Oh no, Mike White was the QB of the TEAM that lost 2 games by one possession to two 10 win teams! He sucks! His yardage over a 17 game sample is over 5000. He makes big throw after big throw. His throw to CD on 4th and 10 vs Minny and the throw to Berrios on 3rd and long against Buffalo were the two best throws we’ve seen a Jets QB make in the last decade. Is Mike White the savior? Who the hell knows? What I do know is he is light years better than Zach Wilson and Joe Flacco and it’s not even fucking close. If it wasn’t for Zach Wilson, this team would be 9-4 and have a playoff spot all but officially locked up, but Zach shit all over himself against an absolutely horrendous New England team.
We had a million opportunities to punch the ball in the end zone against Minnesota. We do it once instead of all those FG's, we win. If he just scrambles for some yards on the 3rd down play at the end we have a much better shot at winning. He either can't or won't run. Buffalo? I never had the feeling we were going to win and the safety makes it look closer than it was. When they start counting passing yards instead of wins for playoff qualification, let me know. White has a 68 passer rating over the past 2 games. His completion percentage during those losses is 57% White shouldn't be judged on how much better he is than the backup QB. His QBR this year is 49.2 which is average at best. The team loves him and that's great, but we can't rally in the 4th quarter. White has had his hand it that.
So he’s average at best? I’ll take average at best instead of 33rd out of 33 qualifying QBs in every metric any day of the week. The guy gives this current team, the best chance to win. If you can’t see that, you can’t be helped. And again, the Jets lost two games to teams that both had TEN wins. Zach Wilson shit all over himself against the terrible New England Patriots. If White played those two games the Jets would be 9-4 right now, I’m 100% sure of that. Let’s see how your dumb QB wins/loss (because wins is a team stat) argument holds up when White leads the Jets to the playoffs.
yeah I mean Joe Montana is not available so you gotta roll with the guys you have and White is head and shoulders above the other QBs in the room
Using QB win/loss as an argument to say MW sucks sure is a shit argument. It’s almost like football is the ultimate team sport. The three biggest mistakes the Jets made that cost them the game against Buffalo weren’t even because of MW. Mosley channeling his inner Troy Polomalu, Flacco fumbling, and Carter fumbling all had significantly more impact on ANYTHING Mike White did. If Carter didn’t fumble I think the Jets win that game, but whatever.
Where did I say MW sucks? I never said that. And I've repeatedly said he should start the rest of the year, but you seem to forget that. But just because he's better than the backup doesn't mean he's beyond criticism.
You’re implying the 1-2 record is HIS fault, when in reality, he’s not even a top 10 reason they’ve lost to the #2 seed in the NFC and the #1 seed in the AFC. The guy isn’t infallible, but he’s been rock fucking solid for this team.
yeah, consider who you are arguing with though. anyone who isn't a total dipshit recognizes that. Its why Saleh didn't hesitate after both losses to say White is starting the next week
We did beat the #1 seed in the AFC, remember. It's not like they are unbeatable. And Minnesota is the weakest #1 seed that's I've seen in a while. And Detroit just smoked them. The Vikings game was there for the taking. White wasn't the only reason we lost but he certainly was a part of it. If you want to claim that's me saying he sucks, so be it. But that's not what I'm saying.
They were at that ratio on the opening drive against the Saints. They were there after 3 drives against the Bills on a wet slippery field in a constant rain. LaFleur thinks that the passing game is how you win and that's the problem. The running game is how you win. The passing game is how you score. To be more specific: you should be run heavy in your half of the field and pass more in their half. That's what works and it also reduces the chances for turnovers in your end.
