Last week, he had receivers get open on multiple plays and Zach missed them. I never thought he was the problem in that game.
Agreed on this. I think the bears were not respecting any deep threats and we're on top of the horizontal/short pass game. Then Mike threw a couple 15+ and that was the game. He's really showing there should be an open guy at all times and doing very well. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
This has been the issue all year. Teams have not been respecting Zach and playing tight coverage close to the line forcing us to throw it down the field. Which Zach has not been able to exploit often enough. MW hit some nice throws down the field which changed the game. He will need to keep doing this. White had issues throwing into tight coverage last year which explains why he had the highest INT percentage in the league last year. Today he he hit a few nice throws into tight coverage. He had a couple bad ones we should not ignore either. What was most impressive was how quick he was getting the ball out. Smart and decisive is what this offense needs form a QB. I also really liked how he moved in the pocket today stepping up when needed. What we all forget is White has only played 5 NFL games. Way to soon to judge him. He might not have the athleticism or arm we want in a long term QB but he played really smart and this team can win with him.
MW didn't have near the talent to work with last year.. Let teams stack the box.. We'll make them pay dearly..
It's called basic stuff. Touch on your throws, reading defensives. Most importantly knowing the playbook and executing it. I know everyone here was on team Zach when they drafted him but he hasn't progressed since he was drafted. Maybe the system isn't right for him or he is not grasping the playbook.
This guy was our OC and his next job was tight ends coach at the University of Arkansas. That’s bad enough but he may have only gotten that job through connections because he played there.
If the playbook had to be so limited by Zach, and it caused MLF to run a terrible game, it's crazy that Zach was ever in the games. I get he's the 2nd pick, but he can't just he played because of that.
for those posters that "assume" because of ZW play that the OC and QB coaches didn't try to coach him is specious because no one knows what they did teach or didn't teah. However. there is a factual basis provided by his teammates (WR) that intimated practices were not good which translated into poor play. My concern last year was that he was "soft" mentally. Essentially what I mean by that is he seem to get flustered easily and eventually only got better when the Jets hired his personal coach that helped his psyche. Do you remember all the times that guy was in his ear talking to him... Not everyone is cut out to be a NFL QB,,,just saying.
That 3rd down miscommunication with Wilson was where I knew we weren't getting in. Would have ran it again. I love bam but goal line is where he will struggle in the NFL (at least this year). If only we had a bigger back we could put in....
Worst thing about MLF is wimping out on third and long plays and going for 5-6 yards of field position instead of throwing for the first down.
That one hurts. Great comeback. Show a lot of courage. The team got to take one game at a time. Boy we miss Breece Hall. And still even more discouraging that some fans here have these negative views, and quit on this team in first half.
