Douglas at it again looking to bolster the O-Line with the potential addition of Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff
Makes a lot of sense. The only concern is that he was doing residency all this time and wasn't practicing with anyone. Even if he is in shape, which Jets wouldn't sign him otherwise, It might take a while to get acclimated, but hopefully Herbig and Laken hold up for at least a month and we don't need him soon. But if someone goes down in December, it would be really nice to have him as a depth piece. Unfortunately as we know, injuries do happen, and hopefully we will be gearing up for play-offs with solid G back-up who knows the system ready to step in.
What a fascinating character this dude Tardiff is. Working the front lines of the pandemic to save lives then returning to the O-line to punch defenders in the mouth. Go Jets.
JD never stops working. Signing LDT to the PS would be great insurance. It said a lot about the culture that the FO has built that all these players want to come back here. A guy like LDT willing to join the PS. With JD in charge the long term future of the Jets is very bright. We are in for an exciting next 10 to 15 years.
There is really only a couple of months left in the season including winter break. The guy probably goes on to continue residency on Feb 13th
Just like the addition of J-Rob Douglas signaled to the team that he believed they can advance to the next level. This Tardiff move is another shot in the arm and a further reminder that the Jets can make a run this season and beyond.
Uh-oh, sounds like Herbig might not be available this week. Seriously, what is going on with these injuries?
Why does it sound like it? Saleh said he is not concerned and expects him to play. Still, we only have one back-up for 3 interior OL spots.
In fairness, I seem to recall Saleh saying he wasn't too worried about Corey Davis after the Denver game. Three weeks later, dude still hasn't been able to practice. I take all Saleh injury updates with a grain of salt.
No, he said that was in comparison to two season ending injuries we had that day, he meant that Davis' is not nearly as bad. He never said he wouldn't miss a game. Today he said he wasn't worried about Herbig's availability this Sunday. Based on that we cannot conclude that it sounds like he won't play. In fact, it sounds the opposite, like he will play, but there is some concern with depth, no doubt about that. LDT needs get to practice squad ASAP!
Fair enough on Davis, compared to the other two season enders, but looking back at Saleh's comments after the Denver game, he did describe him as "day-to-day", which usually doesn't translate to zero practice through 2.5 weeks (excluding bye week). To be clear, it was pretty obvious he wasn't playing the next week against the Pats in the first game, but when Saleh has also said they were hopeful for his return after the bye, it is a little disappointing he hasn't practiced yet. Still time, though, and goes without saying that him getting healthy is most important.
Day to day means he doesn't know, but it is not a very significant injury. I am thinking there is a decent chance Davis will play this week, and likely to play next week. With Herbig he sounded a lot more confident. But yeah, combining these two events: Herbig missing practice and LDT news, I hope the doctor is in shape, let's put it that way. Though Herbig I think will play this weekend.
He need to find a new name for this guy. Something tough. LDT was what people were calling Tomlinson.
This has the potential to be a great move for the Jets. But honestly it all boils down to if LDT is ready to play?
