I don't understand on two 3rd down/ 2 yards he calls a pass play. Then when it's 3rd and 18 he calls a run play. MLF is lost just as lost as ZW.
In fairness to Zach, we run zero slants, gos or hitches. Everything is just whatever and him scrambling it feels like
Great postand right BUT some of it is warranted also... I mean runing carter up the gut? Roberson - whaever his name is - was getting 4-5 yards a pop and then ist the ZW show...today.
Agreed 100%. Stop making this kid think, he can't process what's in front of him. 3 step, bang throw. You have to give him some of those to build some momentum.
As bad as Zach was, he averaged 8.7 yards per attempt. We moved the ball much more effectively through the air than on the ground. MLF decided to get the ball in our best playmaker's hands, and right now, that's GW.
They ran the ball *15* times in a one score game, of course they were more effective passing. That's an inflated statistic. One was on a shuttle pass, and Mims didn't get tackled and got a chunk.
But we can’t rush the ball. What are you watching? Breece broke every run on his own, not blocking. Carter is a 3rd down back.
MLF and Trash Wilson are both terrible. Breece was hiding their flaws. Now they’re being exposed without him
It doesn't matter, they have to grind the clock. Carter had 7 rushes and cracked one for 11, JRob cracked one for 7 in 5 carries. You can't give up on the run when your QB can't complete 50% of his passes, or you're going to lose.
Pass on 3rd and 2 is to try to give the QB a better look with every possible receiver representing an easy 1st down if he can find them. Run on 3rd and 18 is to keep the QB from having to pass in a situation in which there are likely to be 6 or 7 defenders in coverage and only one or two of the potential receivers will have a realistic chance at 1st down yardage. Basically you give your young QB a favorable opportunity on 3rd and 2 and you keep him from an unfavorable one on 3rd and 18. This is NFL 101 with a young erratic QB.
Wow. 43 passes to 15 runs. Didn't realize it was THAT bad. Ok that's inexcusable. Not good work by MLF... ZW is the bigger problem but that balance is also a problem
We had one rush over 7 yards, and it came after we were down 2 scores. Even if you take out the shovel pass, they were far more effective passing than running. Who cares if Mims didn't get tackled - that's what happens when you throw the ball downfield to your playmakers to get tackled by DBs.
He's an awful coordinator. Right now, for me, he's the worst since Sparano. He has no flow or game plan We all expected a run heavy plan, but MLF folded again and passed nonstop because Hall went down. He's a pussy. But then you get the jet irony of the interception the one time he doesn't run it up the gut for no gain on first down. It doesn't make it acceptable.
Then how did Zach throw for over 350 yards? Garrett is a playmaker. Mims had a big play today, too. We moved the ball well through the air despite horrible QB play. If Zach played well, we win this game and he might have had 400 yards.
If you think 20/41 for 355 is a good game with 3 boneheaded picks. Sorry, I'm certainly in the wrong.
He was garbage today and still threw for 355 yards on 8.7 yards per attempt. Wilson is the biggest reason we lost. But the fact he had 355 yards on 8.7 YPA shows there were plays to be made. We have a terrible QB, and we still moved the ball effectively through the air. To me, that is a positive for LaFleur, not a negative. I don't blame MLF for Zach making horrible interceptions or completely inaccurate throws. LaFleur isn't perfect, but he's not the problem with our offense.
