Despite the public comments from Saleh, perhaps the jets are working behind the scenes on some kind of deal. I just don't see them wanting Moore on the team if he continues with this attitude. If he does some kind of mia culpa, Ok, put it behind. But I don't think he's that kind of guy. He wants the paycheck. I mean I don't blame him for that, its just my perspective is probably different from most of you. I'm old and grew up watching the Yankees under Casey, who platooned the shit out of guys. Most of them hated that but they loved cashing their world series paychecks, cause that was big money to them in that low paying era. The Yankees were a team everybody wanted to go to, and hated to leave. Now we have these huge TV dollars supported contracts and its all about getting mine. Dollars from any post season are miniscule compared to salaries and endorsements. OK, thats the way it is. Still, the greatest (arguably) coach of all time, he of the Patriots, would have shipped Moore's ass out ASAP after his statements. You could say Mr. Bill would have used Moore differently from the get go, but that is not the point. Belichick insists its team first. And his record, with some great talent and with some not so great, speaks volumes for that kind of philosophy.
What team in the NFL has all the playmakers that we have? How many teams have a QB that can make throws like Zach? I actually am somwhere between Zace and you. I disagree that we should have been putting up that many points because of our OL injury issues. If we had our normally scheduled OL with no injuries, I do think we could (should?) have been putting up those many points every game. There has been a LOT of sloppy play in the NFL this season...poor tackling, mental errors, etc. With good game planning and play calling, I think we could have been very close to scoring those many points a game, or at least had the potential to. Right now, I think our potential is being squelched by MLF's arrogance and poor play calling.
Berrios has got two TD's and thrown 1 off about 5 plays, that is a great percentage, maybe the lad needs more plays and we might get greater rewards. I know you have shouted for Mims from the off but there is a reason he isn't getting game time, like I said he had one great game in pre-season but it was against third teamers, it is about as comparable as bringing in Fitz lookalike as QB for never losing a game lol You're right though, he needs to be given a chance now or traded, if you can't fit him in after suspending a WR there is literally no point in him being a Jet.
Exactly! Where are the quick slants? Where are the plays designed/schemed to get receivers the ball quickly and then let them make DBs miss?
Again, I don't disagree that MLF can't and shouldn't be better. I draw the line at saying "he hasn't been good at all". If we were bottom 5 in all the major offensive stats, sure, sign my up for that train of thought. Success? Let's talk success. Let's talk winning. Jets are 4-2 and 10th in the NFL in scoring. MLF can be better but to say "he hasn't been good at all" is a ridiculous take IMO.
I really haven't formed a solid opinion on MLF. I find him average. I was just clarifying that you have no issues with Zach Wilson and think he's capable of running an offense that puts up over 30 a game. You are definitely on Team Zach. Good to see
Except this "broken clock" has been right 4 out of 6 times this year. I'm really confused as to what point you're trying to make here. Does MLF not get any credit for these wins? Is he not the one developing and implementing the game plan?
Smith is a true Z receiver who is just as effective at X and Y. Whats funny is, if we would have traded the #2 to Phily, we could have had both Smith and Brown (they used a 1st this year to get Brown). But the truth is, Moore is an explosive player, whose only 22, and on a rookie contract. We need him to pan out. But if that doesn't seem possible...we need to trade him ASAP, while his value is high and teams are looking for a final piece to compete. If we wait until the offseason his value will drop. He's worth a lot right now, both to us, and a trade partner.
Yes, or it would have been happening already. Now, in any games, it is obviously a possibility but you made it sound like 30-40 a game and that isn't happening. I'm happy they are winning, I predicted they would win 4 games this season while keeping the games closer for longer, so they have already hit my target, let's hope I am wrong on the final total after all lol
They are called but they aren't executed. Flacco threw a lot of slants and quick passes as did Mike White. I dont think LaFleur is calling way different games with the other QB.
Coaches know that if they only had to play the game it would be easy. The people stuff is hard especially these days with social media. Casey only had to worry about the writers and since he drank with him no problem.
Assuming we do have to trade Moore, what would you all want for him? He's young, talented, and on a rookie contract. IMO we'd need at least a 1st. Maybe could see Houston giving up a 2nd, 3rd, and 6th.
Hard to see anyone giving up a 1st and your Houston offer is similar to what Carolina got for Mccaffrey. Moore is no Mccaffrey. If he goes I think he likely goes for a player. A similar player with some talent but frustration with his current organization
No, I don't think JD and Saleh would fire MLF this early in his career, especially not Saleh, since MLF's brother is his best friend, and MLF was the best man at his wedding. I think they'll talk to him, work with him and give him time to learn and make corrections. Coaches almost always get the benefit of the doubt and more time. Some players do, but not all. Tempers and ego get in the way in the NFL, just as they do on this message board and in life. I think you have made some excellent points, but so has Zace. I hope that you both will cool off a little and be more respectful. You're both very knowledgeable posters and I like you both. I'm sure that the Jets' history is having an adverse affect on me, but in the past we have often had so few really good players that we drafted, and not infrequently have those players been misused and ruined, and eventually traded or released, that it has me concerned. How many years did we go without drafting a WR early? Then we add Mims, Moore and G. Wilson and two of the three are unhappy and wanting to be traded? That reeks of the Jets' past! It would be one thing if both Mims and Moore weren't considered to be young men of high character, but they are. One has to look squarely at their OC, MLF. Similarly, Zach is the most talented QB we've had since Namath. He showed what he can do in the Titans game last season, but imo MLF has hurt Zach as much as he has helped. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear that he is trying to turn Zach into a game manager now, not because he thinks that's what's best for Zach, but because he fears for his own job and future in the NFL.
Look, I see your point about LaFleur maybe not having earned his position, that he may be there because he was in the right place at the right time and knew the right guy - that's water under the bridge. The fact is that he's the offensive coordinator and, by definition, he is the guy who has the right, deserved or not, to dictate not only which players get to play, but everything about when they play, how they play, what routes they run, who they block and when they decoy; in other words LaFleur is the boss and what the boss says happens unless the big boss tells the boss to change things. Now, that doesn't mean in any way that the boss, or even the big boss is making the right decisions but right now the decisions they have made have the team in the best position they've been in since Bart Scott said "Can't Wait!." This game planning will have to change as opponents change and the most reliable people will get the most work. Any player who can't understand that while dozens of us mopes sitting on their sofas, in their cars, at their desks or in a bar do needs to catch up to reality.
