Clowney played almost 3/4 of the game so really can't say the injury was a huge factor

If cold water is to be thrown, Nagle is your guy.

No he didn’t, he had 34 snaps which was 49% of Cleveland’s defensive snaps, that’s not 3/4 that’s less than 2/4.

He also managed to have a strip sack in that time so it was a huge factor not having him on the field for the comeback

His snap count was 44 in week one (83%). He had 34 in week two which is 77.2% of his week one snaps. Let me explain that to you. That's over 75% of his week one snaps and the guy never plays 100% of the games defensive stats. What he said was factual.

Pretty sure Clowney went out early in the 3rd quarter.

I'm trying to figure out why @BrowningNagle used 2/4...

Yet he had the 2nd most plays for a Browns DE. They rotate their linemen, he was in until 6 minutes left in the 3rd qtr. , 4 quarters in a game, he played most of 3 quarters, hence he played almost 3/4 of the game.

He did not go out until he rolled his ankle so he was in there when the coaches wanted him in there until the injury which was 3/4 of the way through the game.

Putting aside all of the petty fighting, Mitchell hasn’t been the young fill in dumpster fire we’ve become accustomed to in the past.

We watched Wayne Hunter ruin an entire season by himself and Van Roten’s and Edoga’s and Adrian Jones’s allow our young quarterbacks to get destroyed. Mitchell wasn’t a star in either week but he wasn’t very noticeable either which is a good thing for a NFL offensive lineman.

He missed 9 possible plays in the 3rd qtr after he went out. Based on the % of plays he had been playing he missed 4 or 5 plays.

I agree. But it is scary that the Jets MUST hit on 4th rounders. Its the only way we are going to improve faster/sooner after so many bad post-1st round players (before we even mention the bad 1st rounders themselves).

But this is what the good franchises do.

For a guy nobody expected to play for a while you have to be happy with what Mitchell has done through his first two NFL games.

Good point, hitting on linemen especially in the mid rounds is what winning teams do

This is what I was responding to
Mitchell has been playing well against some decent competition. Whether or not some players did not play some of the game is irrelevant. You do realize that Mitchell is out there due to injuries to 2 OTs right? OTs that were out the full game. The fact that Clowney missed a little over 1/4 of the game does not take away from the fact Mitchell has played well, he still has some improving to do and yes he has been getting some help from TEs but coaches do that when facing top pass rushers in the league. Mitchell is not the first OT to get TE help and he certainly won't be the last.

Max def'n stepped up in a big way when we needed him, we would not be 1-1 without that fumble recovery. I don't know what we are going to do when Duane Brown comes back from injury, but it's nice a problem like having 3 starting tackles for a change.

Good post. I agree relying on Becton was a bad idea, but they signed someone who hasn't been injured in a few years. He got injured. It happens.
