That's a tough one. I like White and he did complete 70% tonight, but only 90 yards and no TDs. Streveler is fun to watch and looks the part on the field. Looks off defenders, has a nice touch, but we've only seen him against third and fourth stringers. Could he excel in a real game against the ones? I'm not so sure.
Doubt it. He's got legitimate value, if not on this roster, on someone elses via trade. Will Flacco be here next year? Probably not, so White becomes the #2 by default if he stays.
Chris Simms made a good point this morning on PFT. He said he felt the Falcons because they were embarrassed in joint practice game planned for this game to take advantage of things they saw in the joint practices. One of the Falcons players also said this during a interview on the sidelines during the game. Just one more reason not to take anything in the pre-season seriously.
Yeah hard to make too much out of this other than a few points Bryce Hall just had a really bad game…out of position, sloppy tackling…ugh Offense didn’t look great other than G Wilson…Cager and Mims looked ok…Breece Hall not so much…Wesco didn’t do himself any favors either Streveler looked so much better…he came in and hit pass after pass…everything just opened up and looked functional….I would love to see him start next week and see how he does against a step up in competition we’ll have some tough cuts at DL and WR/TE I get no game planning but I’m starting to get on the we need a new DC kick…I get we had backups against starters but we were out of position, WRs running free all over the place, and Bryce Hall was a starter last year, and I thought he held up pretty well…last night made me say man I’m glad we took Sauce…and yeah just one game but man … it wasn’t Matt Ryan out there…it was Mariota One other thing…they ran a screen pass on us early and it hit for a big game…and man I don’t know why we can never stop a screen pass…it’s like a foreign concept to our D…and it’s been that way for years. And then we ran a screen I think on the following series and we get like two yards. we suck at screens…both on O and D…I don’t get why
yeah…our third and fourth stringers are better than theirs…our second stringers are not as good as their starters…
No generally teams do not game plan in pre-season games. They play vanilla, don't worry about their opponent and just work on their own internal issues. The Falcons were embarrassed in practice and upset about the fights. One of their player admitted they designed plays to take advantage of weaknesses they saw in the Jets D. It seems the Falcons really wanted this win and to make a positive statement while the Jets were more about preparing for the regular season. I thought it was interesting that Simms paid enough attention to notice this and talkl about it on the PFT show this morning. Maybe he heard the Atlanta player interview and had the same reaction I did? Oh and I am not saying the Jets deserved the win or were better as really we only played better with our players that will not make our team vs their players that will not make their team. Just that it was interesting that the Falcons were taking this game so seriously and that Simms took the time to comment.
