What is with the obsessive hate for Gleyber? Sure he’s not at the same form he was his first two years but he’s still giving you .250/25/80 this year with quality second base defensive play (as opposed to being an awful shortstop). He’s under team control for two more years. Yes he’s very streaky at times, but he’s still producing at an above average level as compared to the league. Looking at you @JackBower
Has Jordan Montgomery given up 5 runs in an inning against a division rival since the trade deadline? What a great move, trading a starting pitcher for a guy on the IL.
I'll answer, but first. Do you really think those are going to be his numbers? There's 40 games left, about 25 percent of the games left. He would need to hit 50 percent of his total runs for the entire year. He would need 31 RBIs in 40 games. He has 49 after 120 games
Completely fair. .250/20/65 is so bad for a 25 year old second basemen who plays good defense? It’s not his fault the Yankees refuse to bat him ahead of Judge and rely on him to protect the power bats in the 3-5 holes.
Montas has been on my fantasy team all year and he was on the IL because he was yanked from a game when his velocity suddenly fell from an average of 97/98 down to 94 and he was having shoulder problems. Shoulder problems are even worse than elbow problems because you can just Tommy John the elbow back to life several times. I wonder Cashman even knew or was just salivating over team control.
I just don't think he's really a winning player. His OBP this year is under .300. He's batting .204 RISP and an OPS of .587. that's really bad, worse than I actually thought. He's 1-14 with the bases loaded. He goes through several month long slumps a year where he bats around .100. I will eventually make a list of second basemen I'd rather have. I wanted him traded when his value is high, but it may already be too late for that.
He's become Danny Ainge. He's making awful moves then telling the media how his moves actually are working, and how he tried real hard to make other trades but it didn't pan out like he thought it would because another team didn't help him out. That was Danny Ainge the last 3 years he was GM of the Celtics. I'd also like to point out I was incorrect, the Yankees still don't know how to write the lineup with Benintendi going back to sixth immediately when DJ returns. I just find it very hard to believe Boone is making that decision and Cashman is not.
What's this? DJ and Benintendi 1 and 2. Is this real life? We put both our on base guys before Judge? Man, let's see if we do it more than once. @Jonathan_Vilma not sure if you're watching, but today's game is a microcosm of why gleyber is a losing player. He has to be one of the worst batters with runners on in baseball.
Should let German pitch the 7th but I’d bet they don’t and the bullpen runs into trouble. He’s at 72 pitches.
I wish Scherzer was Yankee. Guy's a gamer. That said, glad to see him out of the game. Not sure why they left him in for so long .
Maybe this snaps them out of their 6 week slump. Judge continues to carry the team. They ha e to pay him whatever he wants. They can't let him walk.
