You are an interesting poster Rocco. First you start multiple threads with the stupid claims of an ex Jets scout. Now this thread. You don't event show the courtesy of posting the article to avoid bringing these douchebags additional clicks. Come on man. Are you really a Jets fan?
Hall has some poor ball skills. He usually sticks with his man but it doesn't do much good if he can't find the football.
Exactly. Complete garbage. This guy even says in the article he didn't see Bryce Hall play in camp and that he's just deducing from he's reading from beat writers (and he's not even making good deductions)
https://scores.nbcsports.com/fb/leaders.asp?rank=305&range=NFL&type=Defense Tied for 6th with 16 PDs. He clearly has ball skills, in fact I'm pretty sure it's one of his strengths, but he isn't finishing the play which is a very valid criticism.
Trying to follow their guy on Twitter is a chore. He can't post a tweet without 18 hashtags and 14 @'s
Raw numbers are letting you down my friend. Hall was one of the leading corners in terms of number of snaps so he was on the field a lot. His ball skills were poor so QBs felt comfortable throwing his way. He was the guy they picked on He gets credit for knocking down 16 passes sure, but in terms of volume it is a low percentage. They threw his way a lot -- sounds like he has lost his job. They signed the kid from Seattle and drafted Gardner because they knew outside corner was weak last year. Hall isn't a slot corner so he wont be asked to cover that. He's "depth" now
I don't agree with the premise of this article that Hall has proven himself to be CB1 but the numbers here paint a different story than you are telling. https://jetsxfactor.com/2021/12/21/bryce-hall-no-1-cb/ Regardless, who cares. Sauce and Reed are the top two CBs on the team and having guys like Hall and Echols, both very good, battling it out for CB3 is an incredible luxury.
Kind of funny how your article refuted both of his made up assertions. The article showed that Hall was rarely targeted on a per snap basis and was one of the least targeted corners and second it showed that Hall was 2nd in the league in deflections on a deflection per coverage snap basis. That being said I read a few months ago the Jets had 2 problems on Hall. They felt he was weak in Zone coverage and they want to get better on 1st and 2nd down and second they thought he should convert more opportunities into INTs. Allegedly, someone from the Phins said they felt comfortable throwing at Hall because they did not fear turning over the ball.
It's like a linebacker that makes a zillion tackles. "look he's top 6 in tackles." Does that mean he's good? We find out, no, not really, most of those tackles were 10 yards downfield. Getting credit for 16 pass defensed is basically 1 per game. The guy Hall is covering goes 6 for 120 and a TD in the game, but Hall knocked down 1 of them. That doesn't make him good at the end of the season because 16 is in the top 6.
You're still hung up on the PD number despite the fact the rest of the numbers support Hall having good ball skills.
I literally replied directly to you with an article that makes the argument that Hall could be CB1... which I also said I disagreed with.
For a guy who gets mad when people call him a troll, you like to troll a lot. No actual human operates this way.
I think ball skills usually refer to actually catching the ball right? Hall definitely doesn't have good ball skills if so. Having said that, I've always felt like Hall played pretty damn well. I never understood how low the coaches seem to be on him. Must be something they're seeing that I'm not from afar.
