I almost feel like the fact that he was a relatively silent dickhead made it even worse. He was never really personally in the public eye demanding more money or running his mouth. He let his reps do that.

Everyone here seems to have no problem forgiving Keyshawn. Maybe a couple more years go by and it’s the same deal with Revis.

When Revis spurned the Jets... I spurned Revis.

I'm assuming you mean wasn't a great Jet for a long period of time, and not a great Jet in general.

I’m gonna miss the Mangold induction. Devastating.

Either way this is cool. Unfortunately they are probably the only 3 guys of the last decade to deserve it.

It's interesting that the criteria for entry is those who have made a "a special contribution to the team"

    I would suggest this means,
    1. Having exceptional talent
    2. Realising that talent with The New York Jets

and to possibly enhance a candidacy by,

    3. Making a wider contribution to strengthen the team, e.g. locker room presence, mentoring, captaincy, responsibility, community profile etc.

On that basis Nick Mangold is a certainty and has been for a few years. D'Brickashaw Ferguson is a strong candidate and meets the criteria but is secondary to Mangold in my eyes.

I would not include Darelle Revis. He certainly has the talent but won a Superbowl elsewhere. He agitated to move and did not embody the wider team spirit or commitment that I would want to see evidenced by those receiving this award.

Revis didn't meet criteria 1 & 2 in your eyes then? He had exceptional talent without question and he realised it on the Jets where he might, arguably, have produced the best single season CB performance in league history. That he got a ring elsewhere is largely irrelevant I feel. Gastineau is in there already, he also had talent and produced a season of exceptional note to go with it on the Jets but could hardly be called a great team man.

I think by that he means he was a great player on the field but off the field with all his contract holdouts and then signing with our most hated rivals, makes him a bad Jet????

It is relevant to me given the circumstances within which it transpired.

Kinda. Not so much a bad Jet when he was here but for a highly productive part of his career he wasn't and he made those choices. His prerogative, obviously, but it does not place him in the rarified atmosphere the other honorees in my view.

It's nebulous and open to interpretation but for me you have to be a Jet.

    Just an opinion though ;)

    Revis doesn’t deserve it

the good thing about team honors is that unlike the hall of fame you don’t have to honor someone simply for their play, you honor them for what they did for your team.

I love me some Mark Sanchez but I really don’t think he is worthy. He never had an outstanding season and most of them were pretty bad. He was carried in those two conference championship beers by the three guys going into the ring of honor among a bunch of others.

unrelated, but I stand by the opinion that Sanchez could have been a perfectly fine starter for a long time for this team if we didn’t slowly dismantle his support system starting in year two.

Darrelle Revis was a great player who wore a Jets jersey sometimes. He was never a Jet.

Nick Mangold and D'Brickashaw Ferguson were Jets 100%. From Day 1 to now. Congratulations to all three though.

And yet Mark Sanchez has the most post season wins of any Jets quarterback... ;)

    Guapo as fuck...

Hes sadly the most successful QB we’ve had in the last 14 years.

Revis most certainly belongs in the ring. He was the backbone of the defense that made us relevant for a couple of years. Rex’s d doesn’t work half as good without him.

The big injustice happening around these nominations is the cash grab the Jets are making doing 3 separate ceremonies. Nick and Brick should be going in together.

Sanchez doesn't belong but you could probably make a case for Ken O"Brien. Those balls caught by Walker, Toon, and McNeil didn't just fall out of the sky.

There's only one QB in there (Namath) so in my opinion whoever you put in there as the next QB should be comparable or at the very least be in the same stratosphere as Joe. No way could I ever vote for Sanchez. O'Brien is a better choice but I still think he's not quite there.
