I asked the same question in another Becton thread - no answer. Boomer Esiason seemed to indictate on Monday morning that he was and the Jets would certainly like to see how he is coming along. Maybe he did not show.
I'm being sarcastic. Your comment that Saleh should have benched him until he was in shape implies that he started that first game out of shape and thus the reason for his injury. The shape he was in going into the first game had nothing to do him sustaining the dislocated knee cap injury. And then the conjecture is that once he got hurt he ate himself into oblivion. Again, Saleh benching him to start the season would have had no effect on him doing that (if indeed that was the case.) You entire point makes no sense which is why I responded the way I did. You do make good points on occasion but other times you post some really off the wall stuff, this being one of them. It's up there with your Wilson is too short proclamation.
He's working out with his personal coach in Dallas. He and his girlfriend are expecting a baby soon which is most likely why he's staying back.
While I can understand his desire to train in Dallas due to this. He is the last person on this team that has any wiggle room. After his last 2 seasons, he needs to be in the facility every second of the day. The only time he should leave is during the birth of his child...this season for him in particular is too important
Bullshit. Anyone that is willing to pick work (voluntary work in this case) over their pregnant girlfriend that’s due as soon as next week should re-evaluate their priorities. Just adding a little edit here. Becton is still working out with his personal OL coach in Dallas. It’s not like the guy is sitting on his ass doing nothing. He has the playbook. He knows the guys he’s playing with. Missing OTAs ain’t a big deal. Tons of players around the league skip OTAs. If Becton lived in NY/NJ where he could leave the facility and drive home, then I’d say it’s bullshit his missing it. He’d have to take a 6-7 hour flight home right now.
You said, "only time he should leave is during the birth of his child". Not the few days leading up to it. It's voluntary workouts and his wife is due any day. Get outta here
I didn’t miss that part. Becton and his girlfriend do not live within reasonable distance for Becton to just get there right away if she needs him. If he and his girlfriend lived in the NY metro area I would be saying that Becton should’ve gone to voluntary OTAs
If I missed work as much as he has over the last 2 years I wouldnt have a job...hell, why has there been talk of him being over-weight, being lazy, and the team in general disappointed in him? Why are there rumors of IK at 4? He is one of the most important aspects of this team this year.....
After the season he had last year, he should be here. No excuses. Maybe the Jets should draft Ekwonu and move on
At the Jets facility he would be working with trainers that have not been working with him to rehab his knee. I would think it best to continue on with who he has been working with since these are voluntary workouts. He also has his nutritionist there so that is another reason to stay. As stated by others when it gets to the involuntary workouts, that's another story.
McGoverns wife just gave birth but he's coming on Monday. all the other linemen showed up except Becton, some of them undoubtedly have their own trainers too, but they see value in checking in with the franchise & their teammates
His knee should be rehabbed to the point that he is not getting anymore physical therapy. The timeline for him is approx 6 months
