this team is still quite mysterious to me and i may have jinxed us by watching stuff about the 94 team last night...
The team that felt like a road block to me a month ago was the Avalanche. They still feel like major trouble but I'm not so certain now that the Rangers will lose to them in the finals.
Since the deadline the Rangers have led the NHL in 5v5 points at 16 goals scored. Alexis Lafreniere leads the Rangers in goals scored at 5v5 with 26 since he was drafted.
Kreider is going to break Jagr's team record for power play goals this year. He's already tied at 24.
More worried about Boston but the Rangers have proven they can hang with them. The east is going to be a bloodbath.
The Rangers stack up really well against the east this year. It's the free-wheeling teams in the western conference that worry me.
yeah... i tend to agree.. we've gotten ALOT of GOOD outcomes while playing rather weirdly, failing to protect leads, allowing teams to jump to leads... but they simply fail the eye test to me...
I've been thinking about this a lot which is why I didn't respond yesterday. The Rangers had a letdown game against the Isles and they lost because of that. They're still 7-3 in their last 10 and they've beaten 2 very good teams a combined 3 times over that span. The NHL isn't like the NBA where the best team can go unbeaten for a month and a half and look great in most games. I think we're fine. If we have a bad streak then I'll change my thoughts on that but for the most part we've just been good for most of the year. We've been opportunistic overall and I think that is a positive quality not a negative one.
varlamov seems to have our # we ARE A GOOD TEAM. GOOD to VERY GOOD, for me. i have the disadvantage of working when the game are on and dont see the "flow" other than the way the scoring rolls out... so chemistry is something that i cant speak to. are we a SERIOUS contender for the CUP? just dont feel it. not down on the team. their my fucking Rangers, i love em
Again, if they win one round of the playoffs, this season is a HUGE success. The rebuild is WAY ahead of schedule.
Oh, and one other thing. .... F Kevin Hayes. The guy was the textbook definition of mediocre when he was with the Rangers, and now he beats us in a shootout?!?!
