As a Spurs fan, nothing would please me more than if Woody bought Chelsea, omg please let this happen (but I don’t think that cheap-ass bid comes anywhere near what’s needed)
Woody Johnson loses again. What else is new https://nypost.com/2022/03/24/jets-woody-johnson-loses-out-on-bid-for-chelsea-football-club/
He should feel lucky. Soccer clubs are money pits. They bring no money but eat up a lot of money. Since the Arab oil rich guys discovered soccer player salaries has gone up and soccer isn't the old soccer we know.
Surprised. If it wasn’t for Arab money would your Man City sign those guys? How about PSG? How about Arsenal?
Why is it Arab guys and not American owned clubs? Go and find out which English club was the first to pay a player 100k a week. Barca, Real Madrid. Messi 1m a week wages Bale 600k no Arabs in sight at those clubs, two clubs who have openly paid fortunes to players long before City got bought by Sheikh Mansoor. Ronaldo currently on 600k a week at Manure who are owned by the Glazers, a funny Arab sounding name. Also City have been around for a long time my friend, they didn't just come into existence in 2008. Won the Fa Cup 60 years before that history club Liverpool, for example, plenty more of this sort of thing. The answer to the first question is Man Utd and it was Roy Keane, this opened up the floodgates for the rise in wages. Also City have three owners now, Silver lake who are American and 15% Chinese. Arsenal are not owned by Arabs, sponsored by them but so is the Fa Cup.
My bad. I should have said "new money". You are right. New money from all over the world not only from Arabs are causing this imbalance in soccer. Chinese, American, Russian rich all have stakes in soccer and that's the thing I was talking about. I hate PSG with a passion. Man City, I respect.
My knowledge of soccer is still pretty low but I am trying to learn it. But anyway, this imbalance you speak of is one of the things I like the most about the Premier League! They dont reward losing with draft picks, there isn't some communist salary cap system with revenue sharing. And the best of all is the relegation, damn I wish we had that in the NFL. "You have sucked for years, you are out of our league until you earn your way back" so awesome
Not buttering you up. I am buttering up Guardiola. You guys lucked out really. otherwise your rich Arab owners could dream all that success.
And no playoffs in soccer. You play home and away against every team in the league and after regular season, champion is crowned. This is doable in soccer because top leages have 18 to 20 teams at most. In NFL there are 32 teams. Home and away is out the window. On the other hand, I wish soccer had Salary Cap type thing. This new money killed competitiveness. When I was growing up Red Star Belgrade was a powerhouse due to home grown talent as was Goteborg of Sweden. Now they can't even dream playin in Semi Finals or Finals in Champions League. It is always the same 8 team making it into Top 4 in Champions League. This sucks really.
More to do with the way the draws are rigged than money. Every club that is a winner has always been backed by a money guy, whatever the era you look at.
Hey @K'OB was that ugly ginger fucker in the Jets cap at the Etihad you? God, your boys had me a bit worried there...
One things Americans don't have and it's the worst. Relegation is the worst. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
No, I am bald and not ginger lol They had you worried, fuck me, what was left of the ginger tinge in my beard went grey.
You don't have to live among hordes of red scouse incessantly going on about how they are the greatest club of all time. A quadruple would have had me looking for the nearest habitable cave for a decade I think. Also love how you deny being ginger, but not an ugly fucker!
The second part is subjective At work, there must be at least 40 of the scouse rats, so I am awfully glad we won.
