I'm with you CC almost off the Douglas train. He needs to have a draft and free agency for the ages. An offseason that the NFL will define as the very best in Jets history.
Sounds like you’re not anywhere close to CC considering he said he’s trending towards great and you said he needs to have the best offseason ever
Agreeing with all those who disagree but seem to converge on the fact that the #1 priority is setting Zach up for success. Whether that's best accomplished by surrounding him with some high draft picks or some great veteran talent, I'm not sure I know the answer. However, the veteran talent route is very expensive, especially with offensive playmakers of the the type we need. The big-time offensive playmakers command a lot of cap spending. If we have it to spend on those offensive slots, great, but otherwise I'd rather we use high draft positions to get some stars rather than surrounding Zach with also-rans.
IMO if he has another draft like 2021, in step with his CS needs he is well on his way to fixing this team in earnest. What I believe is that this draft will even be better than 2021 behind a CS that is more involved in defining the kind of players they look for in their system. Much consist on the CS and Wilson taking a solid step forward in 2022.
He's a good WR, But I don't think he's a number 1 worth 20 mil. it's a moot point anyway. TB said he's not going anywhere and they are working on a LTD right now. he's not going to hit free agency.
Well, you are pretty optimistic. It's time for this team to show more than optimism. This year has to be at a minimum a winning season.
Not quite. I'm still in my seat...you're waiting at the doors. But if he doesn't significantly improve the talent, especially at the key positions, I'll be looking to get off at the next stop. "Watch your step!"
I disagree. There could be a rash of injuries again or just to key players that could prevent their winning 9 games. As long as they show marked improvement and win at least 7 games, and Zach shows clear signs of being a FQB, then we're fine imo.
Other teams have rashes of injuries and still be successful. The Jets and their fans have to stop using that as an excuse. Could be their conditioning and that goes back to the coaches. It's a violent game and injuries are to be expected but making excuses about it doesn't work. I prefer the next man up mentality.
That only works if you have a "next man" who's capable. With the Jets absolute lack of depth for the past decade or so that formula doesn't work.
C'mon guy. Most other teams aren't rebuilding from a roster that was almost completely trash. They have depth. The Jets haven't even had quality starters at every position, much less decent depth. In that situation injuries are devastating.
How long is Douglas going to be rebuilding? This is year 4 it's time to fix this. Ravens compete every year draft lower in the draft and able to reload almost every year. That is what I was hoping from Douglas.
Dude, seriously? He was hired after FA and the Draft in 2019. In 2020 he was trying to give Gase what he wanted, and started the tear down, but hadn't really begun the rebuild because the CS was going to be changing. Last year was the real first year of the rebuild. For all intents and purposes, this is the 2nd year of the rebuild.
Absolutely NOT! We are no where close to being competitive. Build through the draft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am not opposed to it but this is one if the best draft classes in recent memory. That should factor into it.
