I would've asked what Santa could bring them, but it's too late for this season, and we don't know who will be a FA and who will declare for the draft, nor what our draft position will be, but by Easter we'll know all of that. So, if you're the new GM that everyone here wants to hire to replace Douglas, what's your priority? Edge OL QB WR TE RB LB CB Safety Kicker Punter Pick your top 3.
Wait a minute... were is the option for stale jelly beans? I think at this point I want the safety, and one of those awesome pass rushers if we're lucky enough to have one available at our first pick. Then all offense to help Zach after that. Starting with the TE from Iowa or wherever it is that Vilma has been advocating. I'm all for getting that guy at this point.
1) Best available 2) Kyle Hamilton saftey ND 3) Charlie Kolar TE Iowa state If that proves unrealistic then 1) Kyle Hamiton S 2) LInderbaum, C, Iowa 3) Charlie Kolar TE
In this order: EDGE OL LB S TE CB RB WR Some may be surprised CB is this low. The Jets have a roomful of rookies/2nd year players. The jury is still out on most of them but we know Hall, Carter, and Echols are looking good. I say add a FA to that group - a mentor type who can still start and let them grow another year. In the meantime fix the front 7 and add safety help. If the CB position is still a problem going forward they can look to add in 2023. In the meantime create a pass rush and get some LBs who can cover. You’d be surprised how much better CBs look when the QB releases the ball 1-2 seconds quicker than he wanted to…
Edge, TE, LB If Wilson is still hitting ankles in week 17 then I would be tempted with drafting Kenny Pickett and sitting him behind a vet Foles/Trubisky/Mariota look the best FA's out there in 22.
To be frank, if he is still as he is now then you trade him, Rosen managed to get back a 2nd and he was worse than Wilson. Of course, you could still keep him and develop him slowly, it isn't cast in stone to jettison them away if you draft another QB. At the end of the day, I just want an FQB and the Jets to be winning meaningful games of football, hopefully, more than 10 in a season. I have to say I am bitterly disappointed at this point in time about Wilson, he isn't making 5 yard throws ffs and that is utterly shocking, throwing behind, over the heads of and at the ankles of WR's giving them little chance of catching the ball, the one or two quality throws can not erase the rest of the rubbish he has shown. I came in with an open mind, I wasn't all in on Fields, so that debate need not be mentioned, I wanted Lance, who has also looked poor tbh well they all have bar one sigh.
TBH, I wasn't looking to argue about Wilson, just a practical question. And yes, trading him would be aa potential option if they were going to do another QB reset. In that case I would think they'd try to trade him before the draft.
No, I didn't think you were looking to argue. I just wanted to make sure we didn't get sucked into another debate about Zach Wilson. I created this thread because I saw someone had started a draft thread here, and I thought rather than try to think of specific players we should draft because I think it's way too early for that, why not just see what everyone thinks our priorities should be. Frankly, given all the Wilson hate here, I'm surprised there aren't more votes for QB so far.
