Rooting for Zach to prove me wrong in his return--

I think if we continue to see multiple pick games, we are probably looking at our new version of Darnold, Trubisky or Kyle Boller--

IF he comes out and moves the ball fairly well, keeps picks at a minimum and is able to keep us remotely in games--I'll really be looking forward to next year.

He may make mistakes - I fully expect him to - but if you don't see the difference in ability and talent between him and Darnold, I don't know what you're looking at.

That said, I'm not guaranteeing his success and becoming our long sought FQB, but he's the best shot we've had at it in decades. I just hope we don't ruin him like we have so many others. But I think he's made of tougher stuff and will eventually succeed.

At the same point in their careers, Darnold already had two 110+ passer rating games, another at 98 and another where he threw for 300 yard games rn route to being 3-3.

Now using hindsight, Darnold absolutely sucks balls, but to say there was some sort of massive talent gap between the two is silly. Darnold had all the skills, he just never fixed his footwork and cannot see the field for his life.

Darnold never - never - showed the accuracy and quick release of Wilson. Now you can dismiss that as simply due to Wilson playing weaker competition, but accuracy and quick release are independent of that. It boggles the mind that anyone cannot see the difference in quality between Darnold and Wilson. Darnold did not "have all the skills" - he lacked accuracy as a direct result from poor footwork and mechanics, and did not see the field. I'd say these shortcomings put a pretty big deficit in his "skills".

What we're seeing from Wilson so far is a rookie trying to overcome a shit show around him, playing hero ball, which is something that he could do in college, but cannot do in the pros. Hopefully this "time out" has enabled him to understand that, and hopefully the OL has settled down, and the CS has a better grasp of what the players they have are capable of.

This is the best way to work Zach in is to put him in vs a putrid D.

I hope Zach has improved on his protection calls.
He's got to play disciplined... stay within the game plan.
I think we win this game... but not because of Zach.

*The Texans got more interceptions in last week's game against the Titans than we've had all year...

Looking forward to it. Again he doesn’t have to be great, just efficient and move the chains. A few stated above, a good time to start him on the road and vs this team. Would have been a disaster if he started in either of the last two games.

I care. I'll be in Houston this weekend and would like to see him instead of Joe "The Mummy" Flacco.

I was in Austin for a couple years and I thought I would be able to go to that Houston game. Now I’m in Europe. Go figure.

I'm in San Antonio and for some reason it did not even occur to me. I always end up making the Dallas games though. Maybe it's because I hate Houston.

Even with the typically bad Jets optics, I gotta say I don't feel that bad about Zach starting. This feels like good timing for a change. Would have been nice to have MC1 back there though.

I also hate Houston. It makes me claustrophobic, which is never something I’ve felt in a city. Not even NYC.

I'm excited to see what Zach will look like after his break. The next few weeks should tell us a lot. If he's still struggling to hit the routine underneath stuff I will start to get seriously worried.

You’re just using hindsight. Darnold was a complete prospect and a top pick for a reason. Just because it didn’t pan out, doesn’t make any of that less true. His accuracy was good coming out of college, it wasn’t bad in the NFL. He just accurately throws the ball to the other team too much.
