But it wasn't only Joe D who was fooled by Saleh. He was a good DC and had good references. He also said all the right things during the interview I guess. I had a similar situation. Back in time, I needed to fill the Supply Chain Tactics and Analytics Manager role in my company reporting into me. There was a person in our California office who killed it during the interviews. I hired her. 6 months later, her direct reports came to me and said they can't work for her. I did a 360 Feedback Report for her after a year and her grades were awful. She fooled me and others in the interview panel. It happens. But at the same time, I know that many GM's don't get to chose their second Head Coaches. It is a slippery slope. I rather give him Joe another shot at this.
I think mims was very much a Gase type player. A Demarius Thomas type while he was trying to recreate the Denver- Manning offense
You don't see it because it has been so bad for so long. I agree man, this shit kills me every week, but I am so tired of just repeating the same shit and never really letting a system play out. Saleh does not look good because this roster is not that good. He is coaching the youngest team in the league who has now played 4 QBs in a year. Saleh deserves a lot of shit. He's the head coach and it all sits at his feet, but I can't give up on him after 1 year. We're destined for failure again if we go down that route again. Saleh may not be the answer but too many signs point in the direction that is. Including a guy like Rex being completely critical of him to completely walking everyhting back after their conversation and buying into his plan. While it is stupid, Rex could have easily just said they spoke and all is well. We gotta let this play out.
Okay. Let's give him another year. But if he doesn't pan out, we are stunting Wilson's development in my opinion. Tough decision overall.
You can't be the defensive guru brought in to fix this mess and then have the worst defense in franchise history, which is where we're headed. Either the scheme itself is bad or it's not being taught well enough. Not being able to cover the wheel route week in and week out is just unacceptable.
Hall and Mann are hits in my opinion. Becton to me has shown not only the talent but the skill already on tape. Whether he is a hit or not will depend on his fitness and long term injury status. But I've seen too much to write him off like many have. I also think Ashtyn Davis has potential. People seem to forget that he has only played 16 games total, and that he didn't have an offseason or training camp in 2020 or 2021. Guys develop at different rates. In the last 3 games Davis has 3 Forced Fumbles and 1 Interception. Nothing is guaranteed but personally it's not that unrealistic that you end up with a starting LT, S, CB, and P from that draft.
I hadn't included UDFA's but I do think they are further evidence of this front office's evaluation skills
If we found a buyer, I would roll with Fant. He's been good. Becton seems like he's the type of guy who won't figure it out until he gets shipped out of one or two places and sees his future in the NFL going away.. if then. The RG play was the best it's been all year by about a square mile.
The Jets are just a broken record..revision revision etc I have said it before ..17 games is enough of a sample for you to see how good or bad the CS is..not an extra 17 with next season We needed an experienced HC and we never go for that..f#ck it ,,you blew it not getting McCarthy now they should get a HC from College ranks imo
Aside from Wilson, the 2021 draft looks really good, but if Wilson busts, and he's been awful so far albeit with a long way to go, it just can't be a really good class.
I think JD has shown he has some ability in the draft - and he has shown he knew where the Jets needed the most help. Back-to-back first-round offensive linemen, receivers in the second round, and he took a shot on a potential franchise QB. The jury is obviously out on most of the picks still, but the two drafts he's had so far could turn out to be transformative. I have hopes for next year' draft. Not necessarily high hopes, but hopes. If he has another decent draft that could be three decent drafts in a row and that's the sort of thing that can turn around a franchise, even an oil tanker like the Jets.
Right now Elijah Moore is 5th in rookie receiving yards and tied for 3rd in rookie receiving TDs. Michael Carter is 10th in rookie receiving yards. Ja’Marr Chase (1st) DeVonta Smith (1st) Kyle Pitss (1st) Jaylen Waddle (1st) Elijah Moore (2nd) Michael Carter is also 4th in rookie rushing yards and 2nd in rookie rushing TD’s. Najee Harris (1st) Elijah Mitchell (UDFA) Javonte Williams (2nd) Michael Carter (4th)
We fans really expected Wilson to be lights out right out the gate, with this miserable team and CS? He played no worse than any other rookie QB, with the exception of Mac Jones. And he had much better team and CS to play for. He has flashed at times. Give him a chance to grow. You think JAX is throwing in the towel on Lawrence? He has pretty much sucked. I just think we are setting unrealistic expectations on Wilson. Also frustrated with this rookie in over its head CS. There is time to learn and figure it out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In general I try to be patient and give people time. And I really want to like coach Saleh. But I have to admit its hard to not be alarmed and concerned about the performance of the defense so far this season. And that is with the cornerback kids as a group actually surprising to the upside.
