The Jets currently have the #3 and #7 pick after this past weekend. Very curious to see where these picks end up. Seattle got shut out with “healthy” Russ back.
It’s a shame they have the Lions and Texans on their remaining schedule, but on the bright side they have Arizona twice and the Rams once.
Agreed. We have Texans and Jags as well. So we will win 4-5 games and be out of Top 5 and Seahawks will win 3-4 more and will be out of Top 10. I will take it though. 4 picks in first 47 picks sounds sexy as hell.
A lot of the medical reports I saw said that Wilson should have been out 6-8 weeks. That fact that he came back in 4 is insane.
Watching the game, they said they pulled the pin out of his finger last week..... My thought was "doesnt the guy have to develop some strength in his hand again?!?" I guess we all know what seeing enough Geno Smith cant bring....
Is there like a Guinness Book of World Team Tankathons ? The Jets can a submit a claim for the longest in History lmao The Tank completed , players get drafted and one or 2 seasons later traded for future commodities its the Woody bros Futures Market
He didn't say he wanted to hit him. Although, i suppose if he didn't, he could have said, I want Zach Wilson to throw a javelin at guidry.
By 2035, we'll have the whole first round to ourselves. It'll be glorious. How many kickers will they draft?
Maxi..... all pro "level" - not necessarily an officially voted all pro. a top 50-100 player. 3 levels on a D - 3 all pro talents for a top 10 defense - DL, LB, and CB (not safety), one in each group. a bit depends on your base D (3-4, 4-3). for example in a 3-4 u BETTER have the CB and LB studs. in 4-3 u better have the DL and CB studs. flip it to offense - the necessary triangle of any decent offense is the QB - WR - LT. gotta have at least 2 of those to be all pro.
with the obvious lack of talent on the field, me thinks JD is ALREADY shopping one of those first round picks we have. LOL. actually wouldn't surprise me if we slithered back in BOTH rounds 1 and 2. hopefully BOTH of those first rounders are top 10. but we all know how lucky the jets are with the draft.
I'd argue that it is top 10 at the position not top 100 overall. That's for winning a Super Bowl. To be competitive you just need your average starter to be in the top half of the people who play his position, with your weightings maybe a bit better than that. Bad teams like the Jets maybe have a few top 10 guys overall but their average player is well into the bottom half of the position rankings. In the NFL the talent levels of guys 15-30 is more important than the talent levels of the guys 1-14 because it's those guys on the back end of your starting crew and your top backups that are going to sink you if they stink and they'll sink you even if the top 14 are really good.
I’m sorry but that does not make any sense man. All-Pro has a very specific meaning, even “All-Pro level” does. There are only 4 All-Pro’s per year at CB, so you’re saying if you don’t have a top 5 CB in the entire league you can’t have an adequate defense. What about PIT, WAS, SEA, TB, KC, IND, CHI, all playoff teams with top 16 Team Defense ranking in 2020? Or NYG and ARI who were top 16 but didn’t make the playoffs? And I’m being somewhat generous even I think, because I’m considering BAL, NE, and NO to have had “All-Pro Level” CB’s even though they were not technically All-Pro’s. Even NE is a reach because Gilmore missed so much time anyway.
I think what jilozzo was trying to say is that there are maybe 10 players at each position that could be voted All-Pro in any given year. He's probably right about that although maybe 4 or 5 of them have no chance because once you get to a certain level All-Pro is more about market and popularity and overall team competitiveness than any real difference between the top 5 players in contention at a particular position. It's no secret that media accessibility has a lot to do with how the voting goes, particularly when there are no significant differences between the players.
Sure to some degree, but there were plenty of solid defenses last year without a CB of that caliber, wouldn’t you say?
I'd have to look at it but yeah you do not need a top 10 CB to be a solid defense. You do need a couple of guys in the top half though because otherwise somebody gets picked on and you can't help out that much and still field a solid defense. Maybe you'd get away with having like #14 and #21 but the lesser of the two would draw a lot of fire. Meaning #14 CB and #21 among the 2nd CB's or like #53 overall.
As long as everybody can do their job the units function well. All it takes is one OL to be trash and the whole unit is trash. Same thing for secondaries and every other starting group on the roster. The Jets *never* have 22 starters that can do the job. They often have 3 or 4 holes out there and that explains the results of the last decade.
he wasn't healthy though and you could tell. he couldn't even take snaps from under center. they played shotgun the whole game. he really should have sat another week.
