I hear you. Let me correct myself. To me, the talent we have isn't why we gave up 44.5 points a game last 4 games. Yes talent is an issue but compared to scheme and coaching, it isn't the major one.
Maybe he should meet him and offer him a defensive consultant job!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It will get worse. Our boss Petro made the default avatar the "Sell The Team" Avatar. I still see blank green guys but he says clear the cache and you shall see. I don't know how to clear the cache. Lol
So now he grows a pair? Where's all this spunk when his QB's gets smashed after plays and no RTP flags happen? Where's all this macho shit when his players are just going thru the motions? I'm sorry but this shit ain't sellin. .. He's suddenly a Twitter warrior but on the sidelines he's the Sphinx. I'll half believe this BS when Saleh stops being a pussy on the sidelines. Tired of the stoic (Eunuch) HC.
And under Rex they got to two AFCC games with a QB that couldn't hold Farve's jock. Because coaching...
Hmm.. Rex looking pretty good lately compared to this rogues gallery of loser coaches Now thats a real "contrast effect" isn't it? lol Go ahead and dump on my idea. But I repeatedly said a Coach/GM was good fit and we had one on Mike McCarthy but our owners RUINED it for a change Pretty obvious they want this pair of yes men Saleh and Douglas to keep the woosey show perpetuated The Raiders are just a bad consolation prize for me
Some sort of emotion. I think he’s trying way too hard to be a CEO. He needs to be himself and be a football coach. He doesn’t even seem pissed off about losing. It’s just monotone rattling off of Belichick-like generic phrases in press conferences.
Technically he didn't say this on Twitter, it was on his weekly audio interview with the Michael Kay show.
Love Rex, and gotta give it to him: his defense was always good, even when the talent got depleted. Bowels defense was always good. Heck even Gregg Williams had a defense, which was wasn't the worst in football, and top 10 in yards his first year. It's been a while since the Jets have had a shitty defense like this. I do think this defense is capable of doing more - as they did early in the season. I am hoping it is the combination of rookie HC, rookie DC, and rookie players, so not giving up yet. But they need to improve from here on out. Even Rex, thought a HC in name only, was really an experienced DC when he was with the Jets. Now the situation is a bit different, where it might take more time.
Saleh -at times- has produced a pass rush that’s better than Bowles and Williams. Rex year 1, at its peak, had a better one-but outside of that, saleh is the worst DC of the bunch. Also a punk, no emotion during the game, but goes after Rex. He oughta go after his contractors for his home with such vigor, but sadly, His guts are much like his hair-non existent
Sure, and took an up-and-coming team and ran them into the ground too. Rex is a great guy who's loved the by the players, but he never held any of them accountable and can't coach his way out of a paper bag. Other than the fact that he's got a loud personality and managed to luck his way into two championship games with someone else's players, he's just another typical Jets coach over the last 20 years.
It's just as amusing when people glorify them as more than they actually were. He had all the same issues with time management, player preparation, and in game awareness as every Jets coach has had since him. He just had a great personality, managed to take a super solid team to the playoffs, credit for the two big playoff victories in San Diego and New England, and that's really about it. No one's diminishing anything, there's reality and then there's typical Jets fans behavior and expectations: "better than what we have". If all we want is better than what we have, then sure, Rex Ryan is a God because he's better than anything we've had in the past 10 years. But less stinky shit is still shit.
Two AFCC games is not "less stinky shit". I get it... Rex was lacking in every aspect of coaching except what may be the most important one... getting 53 highly paid animals to play hard for him. At least most of the time... 10 weeks into the new regime... I haven't seen that yet. And the scoreboard reflects that. Going down without a fight is the stinkiest of shit...
Because the Jets have sucked for literally a decade, people look back at him with rose colored glasses. His good points are magnified, his bad points are diminished because they're not as bad as the guys we've had since. But Rex was not a very good head coach. He was a good defensive mind. And yes, I gave him credit for the two wins that got us two championship games, but if he was the Messiah everybody considers him to be, we would have held on to a 17-6 lead against Indy, and not showed up only for the second half against Pittsburgh. That was his problem, he got his guys up big time for one game here and there, and then they couldn't sustain it. He's better than what we've had for the past few years, but he was not very good. And the Jets fans attitude for the past decade has been "we should go with this guy, he's better than what we have". We see it when someone gets cut from another team, everybody wants to go grab him. We see it with coaches we used to have, coaches we don't have, coaches we can't have. We are shell-shocked, and we have been brainwashed into thinking that mediocrity is good and preferable because we haven't even been mediocre in so long, anything is an improvement. We can agree to disagree on the players loving him and playing hard for him and the reason for it. I have always maintained that they loved him because were never held accountable and did whatever the fuck they wanted. Of course you're going to love your coach in that situation. And for all the glory he gets for good defenses, they almost never came up big when it mattered. Our third-down percentage on 3rd and long and/or big spots was horrendous. I know most people either don't remember or choose not to remember this stuff, but it is what it is.
His record with the Jets perfectly encapsulates how he handled the job... no rose tinted glasses needed. Everybody knows it wasn't sustainable... if you search the way back machine you'll find me going ballistic about his flaws... and they were many.. I hated the way he did his job... I thought him foolish, reckless and dumb. Wake me up when a Jets head coach matches his record... until then it is what it is.
See? You just did it yourself. You are aspiring to mediocrity because it's the best thing we've had in some time. Rex's performance seems so much better because it's a reflection of just how atrocious we've been for so long. Aim higher.
I'll pull the trigger when I can see the target. So yeah... I'll aspire to two back to back AFCC games... and I'll raise my expectations once we get there.
