Looking back on the 2006 regular season - regardless of what happens in the playoffs - as a Jet fan since 1971, this has been a wonderful season and one of the most refreshing and fulfilling in my tenure as a NY Jets' fan. Thanks to Mangini, Schotty, Penny, Coles, Cottch, Mangold, Ellis, the backers, and my favorite Jet of the current Generation - Kerry Rhodes - and all of the others - Washington, Smith, Smith, etc. The whole team plays like a TEAM and that 's fun to watch. This team makes me hopeful like no team since 1998. J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets!!!!!
GG, you and I go back a long way man and we both were pretty skeptical but win or lose this Sunday, this has been the best Jets season since '98 and I'm loving every minute of it. Finally, the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a 50ton freight train but instead, solid leadership both on the sidelines and up in the FO. No more Cover Who, no more clock management fiascos and hopefully, no more knees in playoff games. Happy New Years GG! Enjoy the ride man!!!
Yes that has been the AMAZING SEASON. For someboody who railed over & over about Woody & Herm I am very content NO matter what happens Sunday & looking forward to the future with lots of hope Happy News Years to ALL!
Ah, look at all us happy old-timers. Nice to find us all on the same page! This has been a truly thrilling year, and far more than I certainly expected. I hope this crazy ride continues for a few more weeks, but however it turns out, I think this team is on the right path. I feel as optimistic about our future as I have in many many years.
Next week we are playing with house money! No matter what happens, it won't take away the joy of this unexpected suprise! If we win, maybe it will be a sign of good things to come in 2007!
I agree with everyone. This has been a magical season so far, and for the first time since Parcells quit on us, I feel like we are headed in the right direction. '98 is the last time I've felt so good after a regular season.
Might as well chime in here myself. How can a Jets fan not have enjoyed this season thus far. Things are looking very positive going forward. The pieces are not all in place yet but the leadership and management team seems poised to improve this team so a very successful run could be in our future. As for next week, taking down the Pats in the WC game in their building would just be the icing on the cake. Either way, you know the team will give it their all and be coached well, something we couldn't always depend on the last few years....
A loss to the Pats wouldn't put the damper on for me. I've enjoyed watching the Jets play in what was the first of their rebuilding seasons and I'll enjoy the game on Sunday unless it's a total blowout in the Pats favor. This is all gravy at this point.
Jets fan since '72 Magical season. A loss to the Pats won't dampen it for me. We're heading in the right direction and its only a matter of time till we pass Traitor Bellichicken and his boys.
Couldn't have said it better myself. It's been a really fun year to be a JETS fan. No matter what happens this weekend, it won't damper my spirits one bit. What a ride it's been!
Yes, it sure has been fun to be a Jets fan again. This is one of the best years since, probably 1998. I also share the same sentiment, if we do for whatever reason get beat this weekend, it still has been a great year. Mangini got us to over-achieve by welding the entire team together. The players know he expects a lot of them and the way they go about their business, but they believe in Mangini. You can see it. Mangini is a leader. What is even better is the entire coaching crew really has proven that they derserve to be where they are. The NYJ may be the future breeding ground for HC talent in the NFL. I am sure our coordinators are already on radar. It is too bad that when you are good, people want you. Finally, if we do beat the Pats in NE this weekend, and especially, if we physically and mentally beat them and BB by giving them a butt kicking, it will be one of the greatest Jets victories ever.
2006 out with a bang and 2007 the Jets in the playoffs, a new Rush album and tour on the way, I am one happy camper! Now let's make some noise in the playoffs:jets:
This was a great season. We completely exceeded expectations, Penny played all 16 games and looked pretty good doing it for the most part and it looks like we can be consistent winners in the future. Happy New Years!
This has been a great season. The coaching staff has set the tone for the entire organization and they have developed so many players that I never thought would contribute at this level. Other then one game this year this team has had a chance to win every game. I'm pretty sure that opposing coaching staffs want nothing to do with playing us. Just imagine how dangerous this team will be after another offseason to get more of the type of players Mangini wants.
We could win the super bowl and I would be upset, only because the season would be over...lol Its been a fun year to be a Jets fan!
The thing that makes this season extra special other then the win loss record is that fact that we beat the Patriots in their house! It just proves that we are a good team that can beat more then just crappy teams.
At the beginning of the year I thought my 7-9 chants were very optimistic, and the Jets went on and even beat my prediction by 3 wins. We've made a lot of progress, and even if we lose to NE it's been a very successful season for the future. All of our young talent will get some more playoff experience, and we'll be ready to fight for the division next year. J E T S now stands for JUST EXTEND THE SEASON!
Holy crap! I never thought I'd see you being so positive, champ. Happy new year to you, as well. Yes, it's been a fun ride. In May, thinking we might win 5 or 6. In August, thinking 8 was possible, but unlikely. In December, looking for #10. Win or lose Sunday, I'm happy. Win on Sunday, and I'm going to watch my head explode in the mirror.
