Sure... Mike White is the new black... ... but there were two plays in the Bengals game that really stand out as game changers. If these two things didn't happen we lose the game. First was Elijah Moore's touchdown saving tackle on an interception return. He ran 60 yards and dropped the mofo with a fearless tackle. The defense then made a great stand to deny Cincy points. Second was Shaq Lawsons tip ball interception with 4:30 left in the game. We were down 31-26 and if the Bengals put a long drive together and or score then we are toast. It was the first interception of the season and it couldn't have happened at a better time. We went on to score the game winning touchdown. Two plays... one saved 7 points and the other gave us 8... both by players making plays outside the norm for their positions. I'm sure there were other plays that led to this win... but those two stood out to me. Any others that stood out to you?
I thought it was bizarre that we had two disputable yet brilliant TD catches within the space of a few plays, one ruled out on review and the other allowed. They were both great catches and I was sure they were going to take the second one off us as well.
The Bengals got a break as well in that bomb against Hall where the ball hit the ground and wasn’t challenged. The Bengals scored a TD on the next play to take a 24-17 lead…that play probably would have been reversed had it been challenged.
Yeah I felt Cole’s was a TD and not what Berrios had. also Mims was gonna catch dude too if Moore didn’t get there, he may have blasted dude into next week but helluva effort by Moore and Mims. Also the Ty Johnson unsportsmanlike was BS and the Jets lucked out there.
That BS helmet to helmet call that went against Cincy late in the game while we were trying to run out the clock....terrible call.
Yeah that helmet to helmet call was just absurd. heh.... but we'll take it. I thought White showed good effort getting down the field after that interception and forcing the guy back to the inside to just barely save a TD. I did not in the heat of the moment realize the effort Moore put in on it. Kudos to him too. Just goes to show you though.... little things. They stopped them and saved the TD, at least for the moment. Who knows? The Jets may well not ultimately win the game if the Bengals just walked that INT in. Also Zuniga getting the big sack. How fantastic would it be if he manages to turn into a contributor after a poor start.
MW also helped on the INT return. He forced the ball carrier away from the sideline into Moore. Two other big plays was the sack on 3rd down of the last Bengals offensive series forcing them to punt. I think it was Rankin on a stunt. But the coverage must have been good as the stunt took some time. Great to see the D step up. How many times in the past have we watched teams convert these 3rd and longs while walking down the field to beat us. Then the run by MC on 2nd down even though he slid short of the 1st. Great to see the Jets able to run out the clock on offense.
And I don't give a rats ass. Let's think about how many times the Jets have been f'd by bad calls. It's about time we got one in our favor.
How about something obvious? Scoring in the first quarter. Something this team had been unable to do this season before yesterday.
Some kudos to MW for coming back strong after the two picks. A lot of QBs, even veterans, might have gone into a shell.
Douglas continues to impress me with the guys he brings in. Shaq Lawson may not be Carl Lawson but he has consistently made plays and made a HUGE one in this game to seal the deal. Excited to build on these pieces we have
Nice post. Not really what you are looking for regarding a specific play, but with all the deserved kudos to White, let's also not forget about RB Michael Carter. The man showed why he is the #1 back for the jets and will be for a long time hopefully.
Once shut down Politics forum, you became such a good football poster in the main forum, I feel like FJF’s MVP award is in jeopardy
That goal line stand after the pick was what set the tone for me, although I was pumped about the first drive.
It's one of the best wins in years. This thread screams why. I'll add to the list of goodness. AVT is gonna be a pro bowl player for a long long time. His domination led the OL, which set the tone for the game. That's on JD.
