The talent Rex had on defense for those first 3 seasons was insane. Not a fair comparison at all. He has a pretty damn OL as well. And good backs.
I think also due to the snow, Buffalo was unable to practice prior to the game, so it was even worse.
I liked the fact that Rex was a big cheerleader for the team. He made it exciting for the fans with his jokes and trash talking.
I think Rex got a shitty deal with poor GM decisions. The roster was ruined In that era. We all seen what he did with a roster with talent... Which I will take everyday of the week, at least you knew he could win, you knew he could find a way to win In the playoffs, and almost got us to the SB twice. Back to back. We haven't seen that, not even close, since he was driven out of town. Regardless. It's really highlighting just how fucking bad this team Is, just how bad this CS has been. Rexy took us to back to back AFCCG's. He has the right to criticize this shit show team at this point. IMO
I can't really agree with Rex being screwed by the GM's since Rex had a lot of say in who was drafted. We drafted nothing but defenders, a lot of them at the same position, and very few ended up even being decent. Those draft picks were just as much Rex's picks as the GM's.
That first season wasn’t full of “insane” talent on defense. He took the same players that Mangini had on defense from middle of the pack to first. I’ll concede that offensive line was “insane”.
I'm sure he had his picks, most HC's do.. I don't think he was in control of that roster by any means. We don't know all the details. Doesn't matter now anyway. I just know, I would much rather have Rex than anything we've had since.
We had a lead at halftime in the first AFC Championship game and we didn't score another point. In the second, the defense didn't show up until the second half and by then it was too late. He did a fantastic job :/
When was the last time we made the playoffs? Let alone an AFCCG? They beat really good teams both years as well to get there. Yeah. He did do a good job.
Look at where we are now.. Are you that confused? No sense In downplaying things to try and make the current misery feel tolerable. It's silly. To each their own though.
I would take Marty Schottenheimer production year In and year out over the current shit show we have been exposed to for the last decade. I mean... C'mon.
It's better than having our Brady-less arch rival hang 54 points on our ass with a rookie QB after a bye week... and molesting our starting QB as an extra bonus in the process. Talk about getting dick slapped... Now tell me again how shitty Rex was ...
