I'm going to join in this group therapy. I thought we'd be bad, but I hard find it hard to believe just how bad we are. I will give Wilson time, but I don't see the franchise qb factor in him. Hope I'm wrong. Now this injury will set him back even more. I used to jokingly say the Jets should take a qb every draft until they actually get a good one. Maybe it's not such a joke any more. Plus, the coaching is atrocious, especially the offensive play calling. I agree that it looks like our OC is simply not competent. This feels a little more depressing than the usual depressing state of the Jets. There's not even a developmental qb on the roster. Oy.
That means basically everyone is to blame. In order of most blame I'd probably go something like this: Coaching OL Wilson DL+LB's (specifically allowing 3rd and long conversions on underneath plays) WR's
Great? I don't know about that, but he's had a couple of seasons warming the bench, learning the pro game. I expect him to look better than what we've been seeing from QB 1.
The passes at the line of scrimmage or slightly ahead or behind that go for first downs are just disgusting. I've overused that word today but I can't find any better word to describe the nonsense I've seen all season long. People like to say it's coaching but that screams talent issue. Good players don't allow those to go for 9-20 yards like we do.
There’s something seriously wrong, in the nucleus , when not only do you throw the rookie qb to the wolves on day one, but you don’t even have a vet backup (which we’re available), to at the very least, mentor him on the sideline.
Horrible idea, the Jets just gave up 54 points and have plenty of holes on the roster, and your solution is to just keep plugging in QB's with high draft picks and hoping one turns out to be Superman? Depending how the FA period goes and who the Jets sign I wouldn't mind if the Jets got 2 of the 3 between Neal, Green, and Linderbaum and just go all in on rebuilding an entire new O-line, would much rather that than drafting another QB who fails on a bottom tier roster.
Dude played 2.5 drives and it's his fault. It's Wilson's fault the defense gave up 14 in the first quarter. It's also Wilson's fault the defense couldn't stop a screen or anything in the run game. It was Wilson's fault for the 37 points that came after he got injured. Jets fans are actually fucking incredible. There were tweets after the first drive saying Wilson sucks BEFORE HE EVEN THREW A PASS.
Zach didn't have a terrible game. He had only one passing play on the first drive on third and long, where he got sacked, but then next two possessions he got into the FG range, and then to 1st and goal from 1 yard line before he was injured. Yeah missed some plays, but had several big time plays too. It's the defense that really shit the bed in this one. I don't think it's wise to draft a QB again in the upcoming draft, especially that there is really no one that stands out. We need to get more guys to help Zach out next season - not replace him after a rookie year.
Wilson wasn't bad while he was in today. He's showing a pattern of often rolling out and releasing the ball just before getting hit though. If he keeps that up he's going to keep getting hurt. He's been doing it all season.
If the Jets are going to spend a high draft pick on a QB they should do it this season not next and they should take a carefully calibrated shot. One idea would be to figure out if Jalen Hurts could be had for a 2nd+ at this point. The Jets have a very attractive 2nd round pick in next year's draft. What would they have to add to get the Eagles to give up Hurts - who is definitely not a lock to be the Eagles QB of the future? You add Hurts to the Jets QB stable and suddenly they have two guys trying to become franchise QB's and it becomes very easy to sit one of them down for awhile if they are screwing the pooch so hard it makes the fans howl. Would the 2nd + Marcus Maye get the Eagles to make a deal?
I don't think Hurts is the answer. I think the move is continue to draft offense early in the next draft and maybe take a flyer on a QB between rounds 2-4.
Holy shit people it is like you all forget that we root for the Jets. It is hard to explain this but will give it my best shot. Joe Namath called the biggest guarantee of ALL TIME! If we all think there is not a price to pay for that then we are fools. I believe this franchise will be paying the debt for that guarantee until Joe Willy Fucking Namath is in a pine box. Let’s not pretend like 90% of did not know what we signed up for when we decided to roll with the Jets. Is this a fan board or a place for a bunch of sorry ass whining motherfuckers to get together to lick their wounds? J! E! T! S! JETS! JETS! MOTHER FUCKING! JETS! I know it suck but come on! We all need to get on the reality train! /end of drunken rant
