Quinn has been axed. https://nypost.com/2021/05/12/rangers-fire-david-quinn-with-eye-on-experienced-replacement/
I wasn't old enough to see most of Gilbert's career. The thing I remember best about him was the Rangers using him on the point on the power play. He'd see an opening develop and he'd skate in from there and take a shot from the slot setting up a rebound for Ratelle or Hadfield. Goal!!!
I have been watching the Rangers since 1986 with the likes of Tomas Sandstrom, James Patrick, Walter Poddubney, and a rookie goaltender names John Vanbeisbrouk. I can honestly say that Artemi Panarin is as talented as any hockey player I have ever seen on this team.
I've been watching since 1972 and I think the only guy that remotely compares to him in terms of pure skill was Brian Leetch.
Leetch was the greatest all-around player I have ever seen. I don't recall EVER seeing him make a mental error on the ice.
Just got Comcast Xfinity yanked from my house. Will be getting Fios Tomorrow so I can watch the Rangers.
Not the opening I was expecting. Things will get better but the adversity the Rangers create for themselves at times has to be seen to be believed.
The Rangers have so many young players that it is hard to predict where the team is headed. With all the potential superstar talent they definitely have a dynasty possibility in the mix but no idea if they will get there. If the Rangers were in a small market I'd be a lot surer of their chances.
If LaFreniere is a 1st line LW the Rangers have an unusual embarrassment of riches at the position. That would make them 3 quality scoring lines deep. A team where Chris Kreider is playing on the 3rd line is a pretty strong team.
