No if we scored on one of the first two possessions it would've been 10-7. That's what you asked. If we scored on one of those two possessions or any of the others we punted on, we likely would've saw overtime. He threw for 192 yards against a terrible defense that always 70 more yards a game. What did he do right exactly?
He didn't gain a first down. What the fuck are you talking about? Did you watch the first 30 minutes of game time? They didn't move the ball. I don't get what your resentful angle is here, but you're making yourself look awfully petty and desperate to defend a poor performance.
Agreed, although I'm not even sure that we had to score on either of those first two possessions in order to win or maybe force overtime. Just moving the chains a couple of times on either of those drives might have made the difference in keeping Atlanta from putting another score on the board. The time of possession differential, especially in the first half, was ridiculously in favor of the Falcons.
Ok, you win. The offense is all on Wilson. A 3rd down penalty for illegal motion is on Wilson. A blatant drop is on Wilson. A terrible play call is on Wilson. No one being open is on Wilson. I get it now and there is no reason to beat my head against the wall. I'm totally content with my take.
The defense also allowed points on each of Atlanta’s first 4 drives. Again, Zach was awful today but this was a team loss. Top to bottom.
Experienced QB cut them up. No substitute for it. Got to be patient until the young guys learn and react. Winning five or six games and getting reps. and high draft choices will be fine. No young player improves in a straight line. There are going to be ups and downs especially with Zack. Try to enjoy the process hard as it is.
The illegal motion that didn't matter because he passed up a first down to throw the ball with Crowder pinned to the sideline? You went back and looked at the All-22 already that's not available to analyze that no one's open? What blatant drop? The ball he threw three feet behind Davis whose sprinting across the field on the medium crossing route? You sure are skewing things to for your narrative. We lost be 7 against a team that gives up 12 more points than we scored. The defense wasn't good. The offense was worse.
Name the two plays on the first two drives that were failed because of Wilson. I know for a fact that Crowder dropped a first down on the first drive (and there was a penalty.) Didn't Davis drop a pass on the second series? And Carter lost 3 yards in 2nd down. They did pick up 11 on 3rd but why not blame the 2nd down loss for this? Nowhere did I say that Zach played well. Nowhere. But to ignore the awful defense and the fact that we scored (plus a 2 pt conversation) to make it a 3 point game with almost 7 minutes left and then let them east all that clock and score a TD is as blind as you claim I am.
The fact that you're bitching about the defense in the thread discussing Wilson's performance shows your agenda. He's on pace for one of the worst rookie seasons of all time but that can certainly change. If he runs the ball for a first down on the Crowder sideline throw, the drive continues and the complexion of the first quarter is drastically different. Corey Davis did not drop that ball. Wilson missed him badly.
You're the only guy hanging your hat on the reason we lost. I'm here to discuss his performance which was dog shit. You're here to defend it under all circumstances when nearly the entire fan base acknowledges that he played a bad game. But hey. Maybe you can shove it in @legler82 face one day, which you're just dying to do.
Do we mean the drive that crowder dropped the ball and then we got flagged for hands in face? Or the drive when Zach did not make a great throw but Davis still dropped it?
