As for Maye, dumb fucker, all that coin and you can't get a cab when you're pissed up, like I said dumb as fuck.
Looking at this merely from the business side of things, maybe this is the humbling event that brings Maye and his agent back to reality in terms of his contract request. He's been a solid to good player and at a reasonable rate, he'd be great to keep...trying to hold the Jets hostage is not going to work now, especially in light of the JFM extension which shows Jets fans that JD will look to sign/keep talented players who play critical positions...and in light of the DUI, Maye's probably lost any bit of public backing where folks said "just sign him no matter what, can't keep letting players like this go"...So in an odd way, maybe this helps the Jets to keep him...
My biggest concern about this story is if the report is accurate, how the F is that misdemeanor charges. If found guilty should be locked up.
Anyone remember why Maye was 25 when he entered the league? Even if he stayed all 4 in college he'd only have been 22-23 coming out, not 25. He should have known when he joined the Jets (or any team) that a BIG 2nd contract at 29 would probably not happen.
he was 24 when he was drafted. This is his 5th year in the league. He is 28, turns 29 in March. He was at Florida for 5 years because he redshirted his freshman year and didn't leave early. So ages 18-23 he was in college. Turned 24 in March before the draft. Ages 24-28 with the Jets, turns 29 in the offseason when the Jets let him walk
Beat me to it. He seems to have been a slow starter in his football career, so he didn't "jump the line" at any point.
I know that Maye has been a leader previously on this team. However, is he now? Who leads this Defense because right now I see CJ and the D line being the heartbeat of this D, not Maye. He's a good player but I wouldn't pay him top 10 money, based on how the other safety's are playing. Thanks for the five years Maye, but I want to pay you for what you will bring in the future not to say thanks for what you have done. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Almost except he was 19 when he entered UF and 20 when he started playing as a freshman. Fresh - 20 Soph - 21 Jun - 22 Sen - 23
Well, this is the end of Maye Jets' career. There was hesitation about signing before the injury and this just made it easier to let him walk. He was injury prone and will want top safety money. We have a ton of draft picks time to start looking at Kyle Hamilton from Notre Dame he might be in play.
