Hard to believe this guy was outright cut just two years ago. Look at him now! That was the point. Have a good one.
I would assume it's just showing how we got him and the mistake the Rams made. Add him to their DL and it's even more scary for opposing teams.
I respectfully disagree. While we didn't draft him, we claimed him on waivers the year after his rookie season, so it's almost as if we did draft him. I can't remember if he was already injured or got injured with the Jets, but we signed him and he went on IR for the 2019 season and we could have let him walk, but we didn't. We retained him, and we DID develop him, so we are signing a player we developed, and so imo it does fit the narrative or is close enough. I believe that Fatukasi will be re-signed, as will Q. Williams and Huff next year. Right now, they are the young core of our D along with Hall, and maybe the other CBs. Mosely's part of the core, but of course, he's older, and by the time we are ready to compete for the Lombardi Trophy, he may not be here. Quincy Williams could well become a part of that core as well. Hopefully, Carl Lawson will be back healthy next season and our DL will become the top DL in the NFL and will strike TERROR in the hearts and minds of opposing QBs and OCs.
Don't forget Fatukasi. He's a great run stopper and better at pressuring the QB than many think. We also need to re-sign Rankins. He's pushing the pocket, doing a lot of the dirty work enabling Q, JFM and Huff to feast.
The Rams were stacked on the DL and even though they probably wanted to keep him, it was not a position of need for them. Those are the moves that fans kill their GMs for but the roster has to be trimmed and good young players are let go because of it.
What? Why isn't there a Maye thread on page one talking all about this? Edit found it on page 2 with hardly any posts in, Robby A used to bring all the outraged to his misdemeanor threads lol
I agree 100%, Rams had Suh, Brockers and Donald, there was no way JFM was displacing any of those guys.
JFM is not the same kind of player as Suh, so no, he wouln't have replaced him. Brockers was 27 at the time, JFM could have been kept as depth. He didn't have to replace any of them immediately. Who are the backups that the Rams kept over him? That said, perhaps JFM didn't perform that well in his one season of practice and play with the Rams, and maybe their other DL players/backups were clearly better.
Congratulations to him. I can’t help but think about Wilkerson’s last contract where he got fat and smoked more doobies. I don’t think JFM is anyway like him and seems to be a professional gentleman.
Building this organization around guys like JFM is what makes a long standing winning organization. I can't express enough how much I love this move. Good for him, good for this team, and good for his family!
He was actually a surprise cut to the fans and the beat writers. That information can be found on the Rams forums.
