Mostly on defense. And with talent this coaching staff had a hand in selecting. Mims is neither. Do you think he’s not getting his position reps? He’s being kept out of the meetings? I don’t think it takes blind faith to assume these things.

of course he's not getting a lot of reps. Its the same thing you cited with the QBs. If Zach Wilson was the backup, he would be getting less reps because they have to prepare the starter for the game on sunday. Why would it be any different for the 7th WR on the depth chart? They would want to prepare the 4 guys ahead of him that they expect to be throwing to

But he’s getting reps and that means he s being developed. He’s not getting the crash course some other guys are getting but he’s being developed. Just because we aren’t seeing it on Sunday doesn’t mean he’s just put in mothballs and stashed in a closet.

    Why not cut him then?

Evidently enuf teams that the Jets had to turn down offers. Betcha they won't put Mims on the PS squad either...

Because you don’t cut bait with someone that has his measurables after 20 games. Davis, Cole, and Crowder all proved they can perform and Moore should be coming back this week. The Jets can actually afford to keep Mims on the bench and develop him. Mims will be on the Jets roster the whole season; next year is his make or break.

Because they obviously believe he has the potential to be an asset in the future, even if not right this second. Whether that's a tradable asset or contributing asset.

I'm not sure what this boards obsession with him is though. I don't see the table pounding for Perine to get into the game despite having a horrible rushing attack?

I was disappointed perrine was inactive. I think he would serve us better than Johnson.

Perine hasn't ever flashed has he? Perine is JAQ and doesn't have any measurables or athletic difference makers.

Mims on the other hand has flashed in his limited targets (both last year and this year) AND he has the measurables (6'3" 4.38 40 yard dash). A lot of fans, myself included, have been waiting for the Jets to grab a guy like this the past 10 years. Big, Fast, has hands and wins contested balls.

If Davis gets hurt, Mims actually starts

At this point I have to agree. The Oline isn't getting any push in the middle so Johnson is wasted a lot as a bruiser, to the point where they were using Coleman in short yardage situations to scat his way through or over.

Perine at least would be able to get to the edge faster than Johnson.

Let the kid develop for gods sake. You don’t trade him because you won’t get anything for him at this point so you keep him and hope he develops enough that he can live up to his potential one day.

Going on about Mims after a day that all 3 WRs finally lived up to hype and played extremely well is not a good look.

Because the staff sees him as an important part of the team going forward. Just because he isn't getting in the field this year dies t mean they don't have plans for him. That's my take at least.

Imagine if Mims had 2 catches this year? This place would be on fire.

I really don't believe Mims is going to turn into some stud, but I hope he does. It's hard for receivers to make it in the modern day game without being somewhat immediate contributors.

But I do remember Davante Adams being dog shit his first two years and struggling with drops/running routes that were up to snuff with what Rodgers + the coaching staff there wanted.

And he turned into an absolute stud. Sometimes the slow approach works out (not always). Maybe this is the same case? For every Davante Adams there are ten Devin Smith's but maybe there's a reason for all of this.

Either way it's silly to see the Jets receiving corps perform as well as they did on Sunday and still see the fan base upset over the guy not getting run.

We sure about this? Honestly, Johnson looks a lot faster on tape and was pretty clearly our best back last year (among a pretty sorry crew).

EDIT: Just looked up 40 times and Johnson ran in the 4.3-4.4 range at his pro day whereas Perine ran a 4.6 at the combine. Obviously shorts workout, but would seem Perine is rather pedestrian athletically.

A differnce of 0.2 is pedestrian athletically now, wow.

Conspiracy theorists care. It’s distracting them from 1-3.

I’m with you, though. Earn your way onto the field. Otherwise, enjoy catching warmup passes on the sideline.

4.6 is awfully slow for a running back with little power. Not that combine numbers are the end all, be all but I can't imagine he'll see the field much, if at all this year. And it's probably fair considering he was severely outplayed by waiver wire pickups and a 95 year old Frank Gore last year.

Perine was expected to be their power back and the injuries have set them back to the point where he’s just not in the rotation/plans currently.
