New QBs, Same problems. JD looking foolish rn. He's playing the long game in a world of win now. We'll laugh at this if it all pans out but RN, he looking clueless.
Bro we coming off the worst season in Jets football history (which is saying a lot). When has he ever looked anything but? It’s all hype and no results thus far.
How many years and passes does he get? The OLINE guru and still the line is a joke. Even with MB falling into his lap he's looking completely clueless on the OLINE moves. Ftr, I'm in for the long haul. I'm liking most of the moves but this fan base is too fukin polar and lack the ability to hold people accountable. So this is more a post of accountability..
Didn't you know? Championships aren't won on the football field, they are won on message boards before the season starts.
I mean. It's only been one game, In which they looked promising after adjusting at halftime. A lot to be concerned about but It's also too premature IMO to definitively say JD Is a walking trash can. Not saying you are wrong either though. Time will tell.
It’s the third season with JD, not just 1 game. I don’t hear anyone saying he’s a walking trash can, but the effusive praise for JD despite the horrendous results is a also a bit much. As @Royal Tee said above, it’s about accountability at some point.
This is Joe Douglas' second full offseason. His first had a draft by Mac and he was handed Adam Gase who was fuckin terrible. Are we just ignoring those facts?
No, that was my own personal flavor. I agree for the most part. I'm talking In the sense of a traditional rebuild. The line Is of his image now. This team. We all know this was a massive project, It's not complete by any means, still, as far as what has been assembled thus far, I want to see the product have a chance to declare themselves whatever they will ultimately be through time given. I don't count the first year considering Mac was allowed to make almost all the important moves his first year. We are still seeing how the last two drafts and free agents are playing out. I agree about the blind praise as well. It's not warranted until we see the results. I'm just speaking from a neutral frame of mind right now Is all.
The amount of declarations in the Gameday thread was hilarious. Moore has played one game, but he doesn't have it, Darnold is better than Wilson away from Gase... AVT is a bust. You'd think we are chatting with a bunch of NFL coaches with how quickly they can evaluate. 2 days ago everyone preached patience.. that lasted 1.5 quarters.
I’d be lying if I said I’m not a little worried about how good of a talent evaluator JD actually is when it comes to OL. Not ready to call it quits on the guy but the amount of effort that went into that OL and how terrible they still are is alarming. Loved everything I saw from Zach when he was actually able to play football. Threw that awful INT and still came out firing in the second half. Took a huge hit and then on the very next play threw beautiful ball for a TD. I don’t care about the loss because I don’t expect us to win more than 5-7 games… I do care that we’re back to do nothing for our young QB which includes playcalling. Abysmal in the first half. All in all I came away from this feeling oddly satisfied.
I understand the question on the offensive line side. That needs to be fixed, asap. We have spent a lot of capital in that position and it doesn't look that way on the field. Having said that, I thought this team showed great promise out there today. Definitely a more talented roster and definitely a better coached team. If the offensive line just played better, we win that game. That's a big step forward coming off an absolutely HORRENDOUS year. Let's see how this staff adjusts leading into next week. A lot of promise on this squad. Just gotta put it all together
Yup, and if this season goes like last, his seat should be heating up. If they get better and gel as the season progresses, that's all one could ask for. Expecting playoffs this year was unrealistic.
