This move makes zero sense to me as It stands. We are thin at the position anyway. Even If you don't start him, okay, why wouldn't you keep him around for depth at least? I don't see the upside as It stands to outright release the man. Which leads me to believe something was up behind the scenes with him or we are about to make a move that brings the puzzle together. Otherwise. This isn't a smart move.
This makes no sense. Bless Is a young corner as well and he would still be depth at a position that lacks just that. I don't buy that explanation at all.
I'm not saying he is or isn't. i'm saying JD has never tried to trade or let maye walk. he tried to extend him and tagged him. clearly he is part of JDs plans for the time being and always was. the main point was that he was a good pick by mac
could be, or maybe he didn't fit the system. bless is a man CB. saleh runs hevay zone. needs fast smart CBs. maybe bless couldn't handle anything other then cover that 1 person. Also bless ran a 4.65 and 4.56 at pro day/combine respectively. most of our CBs are speedsters now guidry 4.29 carter II 4.3 hall none listed. rumored to be in the 4.5s pinnock 4.45 dunn 4.38 echols 4.35 bless was our slowest CB and maybe wasn't picking up the system. we have 4 that run sub 4.4 40s which is big for slaehs system.
Bless didn’t move the needle honestly. It’s not like he was a big difference maker. The Jets have like 4 rookie corners on the roster too so let’s not automatically think they are taking Stingley or a corner really high. You never know who may distinguish themselves out the group.
I was surprised about it but not going to complain about a Bless Austin who never once resembled the Bless Austin before injury @ Rutgers. 2020 Pass Defense: 28th in passing yards allowed (4,409). 28th in receptions allowed (418). 28th in passing 1st downs allowed (235). 28th in INTs (10). 29th in QB Rating allowed (103.2). 30th in TD passes allowed (34). 30th in completion percentage against (69.1%). Etc. Bless Austin was apart of the worst pass Defense in all of Football and he was just as atrocious himself. Bless Austin: 0 INTs. 73 targets with 48 catches allowed (65.8%). 478 receiving yards allowed (45.0 per game). 3 TDs allowed. 97.9 DB Rating against the pass which is HORRIBLE (almost just as bad as Jamal Adams in pass coverage). And we're going to complain about "Bless Austin" when our coaching staff obviously likes our younger CBs even more?
I think they thought he just did not fit the culture. And he was not a major upgrade to the rookies, so decided to roll with them. And Let Bless find a happier home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You need more speed for man than zone. Also, doesn't make sense to have him working with the first team the ENTIRE off-season, he makes the final roster, then he Is cut a day later? All this after he was excused for "personal" reasons a couple times this off-season? If he was being outplayed this off-season, then why wasn't he buried on the depth chart like others that list their spot on the depth chart for poor performance. IE: Herndon. Something Is off about this, It's so random too. I don't think it's a speed thing at all though.
You need to learn the difference between someone complaining and someone trying to create dialogue around something that doesn't have a clear cut answer behind It.
It makes 0 sense. He's not that great but might be the best of what we had There better be a trade coming. Or us picking up Trufant. But you shouldn't weaken an already awful unit of the team.
True but I think the clear cut answer is he was apart of the worst pass Defense within the entire league and was picked on himself (awful). I was high on Bless Austin coming out of Rutgers but lets be honest, he's been a big time disappointment for us. But yes. This is where I wish we would've went after Steven Nelson before Philadelphia stole him because he was apart of a really good Steelers Defense.
This is a move that gets me wondering about Saleh. I hope he doesn't turn into a tyrant. If there was some kind of disagreement with Bless he should have sat down with him and then stated that some situations don't work out etc and I wish Bless the best yada yada. Saleh talked the talk about communication but does he walk the walk?
That's all fine and we'll, I'm not claiming we can't upgrade at the position. I'm not saying he's a good overall option. I am saying. Things are odd about It. There is no indication that anyone else behind him will be an actual upgrade over him at this time. I personally find It hard to believe. Even so. Say someone is better suited in the current roster to start over him, why In the world wouldn't we keep him for depth at least? Especially when you consider experience at the position. I'm pretty sure that Bless was the most experienced CB we had. Which isn't saying much considering how young he Is as well. Something Is off about this. It just Is. He literally was getting the majority of the 1st team reps all off-season. Now he's expendable? It doesn't add up.
Someone needs to take Bless Austin and convert him to a safety or put him exclusively as a corner in a Tampa 2/underneath zones. He's not built to be turning and running on the edges. He's a good tackler and closes fast moving forward. I still think he was a better option than some of these other guys but the Jets disagree.
I think you are putting way too much thought into this LOL They like the way Echols is playing. Move on
Most rookie CBs are trash. Even the 1st rounders. Okudah was picked on all year last year and he was 3rd overall. These guys are what 6th rounders or something? To think they are gonna be good is not logical
