Can someone fill In the blanks for me? I followed him coming out of Clemson. I obviously seen him from a same division vantage point with Buffalo. As well with the Dolphins. 1. Why Is this his 4th team now? 2. What went wrong with the Texans? 3. Did he fall off a cliff? Just, some obvious question marks for me, why did we get him so cheap from the Texans? What had happened to him?
I don't really know the answer, but if the trade of Watson to the Dolphins is true, I'd say the Texans are in fire sale/tank/rebuild mode. But he has to be better than what we had left, and if not, it won't be the first "6th round pick" that doesn't work out.
Right. I'm not trying to rationalize the trade. I'm okay with taking the risk with a 6th. I just genuinely want to know what has happened with this guy. It strikes me as odd. EDIT: The fire sale theory though. Makes sense. Only, why bring him In, in the first place If that's the case. I suppose plans could've changed after everything with Watson. So strange to me.
If this was an Initial move for a DE It would of been your typical BS Low $$$ Low Draftpick move but you can't really fault JD here no matter how this pans out. Injury put a major wrinkle on the D.
Maybe I'm just cynical (I am) but I don't really see where the high reward is? He's just a below average pass rusher and a decent run stopping end. He's a low-end NFL starter. There's no real "high" reward for a guy that was likely not going to make one of the worst defenses in the league. It's not a bad move, but meh it's pretty much a nothing burger.
So.. Dolphins traded him to the Texans In a player for player swap. Now. The Texans are trading him for a 6th round pick. I guess this is a good depth move. He's clearly not a dominate player. Not sure why some are so excited over this trade? It's cool though. Not trying to shit on anyone's parade with It. Just doesn't make sense to me after researching him a bit. It truly Is a 'meh' kinda move though. Honestly.
He will hold the fort, you’re not getting an all-pro for a 6th round pick but he won’t get pushed around like a rag doll like huff. Worst case he’s serviceable, upside is This staff can tweak his game to be a solid contributor, either way they gave up nothing.
Where is this "cheap $" coming from? According to OTC he has a 9mm base salary next year with 5 million against the cap if cut. Maybe the trade negated that--just wondering where people are getting their $$ numbers from.
He’s solid, moreso a run stuffer but has decent pass rushing ability, nothing to write home about. You plug him in until Blair/Zuniga or Rashed makes the team and any one of those can contribute on a consistent basis
This is an excellent move. If it works out we have our other DE locked up to compliment Carl moving forward. No downside. I'd really like the Jets to sign KJ Wright now with Davis on the shelf for a bit. I don't like the idea of two converted safeties that are rookies playing such a prominent role.
