With all do respect, Darnold PROVED he is not the answer. Forget the abysmal stats, he does not pass the eye test or have the “it” factor. There is zero doubt Sam needed to be replaced. I am very high on Zach, but only time will tell if he was a better pick than Mac, or lance, or Justin.
The thing about Wilson is we luckily didn’t trade draft capital for him. If he’s a bust, it’s ok. Will have options in the future.
I am a Wilson fan and was advocate in drafting him but I disagree with this point. We did give up enormous draft capital to draft Wilson. That number 2 pick was worth a godly amount. Miami got 3 1st round picks for the number 3 pick. Our pick was worth even more. In that sense Wilson really needs to work out and be worthy of a 2nd contract. What we gave up in trade value by committing to Wilson was a huge amount of draft capital. The anti-Wilson people often fudge their arguments with sketchy facts but they are right that we spent an enormous amount in drafting him and that part of their argument is certainly valid. That being said I am optimistic that he will. Given his great start, his attitude, his work ethic, his acumen, his desire to succeed all combined with his physical gifts. Add in that the Jets are building a team and a coaching staff to support him and I am optimistic.
I mean y’all following his tweets? Wilson going less than 50% completion in sweat pants. I know it takes time but he has to show us something before we can believe. Nfl is way different than BYU or even USC for that matter!!
