    Current drought is 10 years

Longest drought was 11 years (1970-1981)

Hate to say it, but even with the 7th playoff seed I think they have a great chance.2023 is the playoff or bust year for Wilson, Saleh, and Douglas.

    Edit:

Removing my post as my math was off. Jetfan20 was correct in that our longest playoff drought was 11 years.

All I can hear is the announcers saying “no rookie qb has ever taken their team so far”

First we have to win 3 games 1st. So yes Jets will own all the wrong records

Odds on the Jets missing the playoffs the next two seasons are really high. Probably 90% or higher at this point.

It's not just that they're bottom dog in the AFC East at this point it's also that there are two strong builds in place and the third team is the Patriots.

11 years is correct but original post should read 1970-80 as the Jets made the playoffs in 1981.....

In 2021, 9 wins might be asking for too much. Could change in 2022.

Not only will the Jets break it, I have a feeling they are going to obliterate it.
    Playoffs 2029 here we come.

I'm still too traumatized from 2-14 to consider entertaining anything else.

Who would have thought the Dolphins could have been a ten win team so quickly into their rebuild?

The NFL's parity scheduling gives all but the worst teams a break. Then you have the trades they made to accumulate value - a process that allowed them to enhance depth and quality in the draft - the Tunsil and Fitzpatrick trades being the primary movers. They accentuated the trend this year again by trading around in the 1st round to get more quality picks and set up next season.

Also at the start of the process they were not a crashed franchise the way the Jets were headed into 2020. It takes a lot to get off the ground from a standing start, which is essentially what the Jets are going to have to do now.

This is actually the time of year I'm EXPECTING, dreaming, envisioning our Jets not only making the playoffs, but making serious noise! My god we'll soon have six months in a row to accept defeat and plan for next year......JUST GIVE US ONE MONTH TO DREAM DAMMIT!!!!!

I've done that 40 out of the last 50 years.

    Done with doing that.
