Fixed. We traded our 4th round pick and our 7th.

Out of interest which rookie OT's were better than Becton?

I think the Bucs RT was graded out higher.

    Wirfs?

Off the top of my head was he the one that was an RT in college but to a left-handed QB so effectively an LT?

Great stats. Thanks for sharing. I actually brought Huff up earlier to a friend because he normally is not mentioned when talking about the Jets D. He could do really well in Saleh's scheme. I think all 5 of those guys will get significant playing time in 2021.

What I love about Joe Douglas is he has shown he knows how to control a draft board. He traded down in 2020 and was still able to get Mims. He traded up to get AVT this year. He knows what he is doing. Having those picks next year will allow him the flexibility to get the players he wants, but also sets him up for several trade downs too. Love it!

You might be thinking of Wills, who protected Tua's blindside at RT.

He crushed last year, although he also had Brady behind him.

I agree about Huff. I think he has a chance to become a pretty good player for us. At the very least, he could become a situational pass rusher. He's 255. I don't remember what his speed, agility, and pass coverage skills are like, but if he doesn't work out as a pass rusher, he could also possibly move back to LB and maybe be the SAM LB. I think he will work out as a pass rusher, edge defender, however. He had 2 sacks last year as a rookie UDFA. That's 2 more than Gholston got in his whole career. I think in Saleh's defense and with better coaching, he might be able to generate 6-8 sacks per season and be solid vs the run.

I think JD definitely knows what he's doing in the draft. As you said, he moved up and down with ease, gets excellent value, and made a wise decision moving up for AVT in this draft rather than staying put at #23 and taking a player with a 2nd round grade at #23. Rather than taking the traditional "balanced" perspective or just BPA in the draft, he wisely knew the offense needed a lot of work, and he built around Zach. He drafts for scheme fit, high character and players who love the game, which increases the likelihood that they'll pan out, and he also possibly got a couple of steals in Nasirildeen and Yeboah.

No one should need to explain that putting words in the mouth of another is improper. Being called silly made up names by someone doing so calls for either complaining to management or dealing with it personally.

I think you flew into the wrong thread? This thread is for optimism and optimistic Jets fans heading into the season. Everyone understands your upset about Sam unceremoniously getting flushed down the toilet & then JD drafting Wilson instead of trading down for a boatload of picks. We get it. I was you when we drafted Sam. But, I also did not like our GM & head coach & even still with all of that, I was willing to give the entire group a short leash with Sam. Everything ended once they signed Le'Veon Bell. I like Bell. Very bad signing though.

So yes, I'm optimistic because the previous regime had no clue how to build a team. I stopped watching Jets games during the previous regime because I couldn't take it anymore. That has never happened in my 49 years soon to be 50. If this regime somehow sucks, then I'm all for blowing it up ASAP and not waiting around & that includes getting rid of Wilson who you know I really like & wanted us to draft. But, we are still in a great position...

Anyway, back to being optimistic about our glorious new QB, RB, OL, WRs, GM, HC, our 2 firsts & 2 seconds next season. All that flexibility to go in many directions moving forward. If something doesn't work or we get injuries that derail players, we have picks and a good cap situation to help improve the situation.

How can you not be excited about SPEED??? It isn't just going to be about Moore. Our defense will be built on speed. We will play fast on offense and always attack, instead of plod along with Darnold. Speed!!! I love it!!! Wilson to Moore on a quick slant over the middle makes me forget about the Dolphins having Waddle.

If you're still not optimistic, there is a sale on bird food in Charlotte. Plenty of trees there to build a nice nest where you can crap on the overly excited fans as they walk to the stadium in their Darnold Jerseys.

There are no threads "for optimism." All are here for discussion and that's what I have stated numerous times. You're entitled to voice your opinion, I'm entitled to voice mine whether you believe it is valid or not. As I and others have stated, you don't get to tell anyone what they "should" be feeling or posting. After close to sixty years as a Jets fan, I don't need your help in deciding how I should feel. I'm not asking you to once again rationalize your outlook, I'm telling you to respect mine, whether you agree with it or not.

Shove your bird seed up your ass.

One thing JD realizes which you talked about here is the need for scheme fit. That is why I believe his coaching hire was genius. Although we both preferred an offensive-minded HC, it is apparent that the division we are in will require a very fast defense. Speed. Saleh, as you know, is very much about speed on Defense. Otherwise, how would we be able to beat the Bills with a slow defense? Now we also need speed to defend against Miami. We will either see some good old-fashioned shootouts, or we will have a speedy defense that can cover and also tackle to slow down the opposition. I think we're developing the best of both worlds on offense and defense. Probably not there yet on defense, but with all of our flexibility, we are in a great position to fill those needs next offseason.

I would like to see if Guidry can continue to improve. We may have found a gem. He ran a 4.29 and put up 21 reps on the bench coming out.

You don't respect my optimism. You hate it. You have said so numerous times. I question your negativity which is my right on a message board.

I give reasons for my optimism. You give no reasons for your negativity. That is the difference.

I don't need to respect your optimism, but I respect your right to post it. Why do you need me, or everyone else to agree with you? I don't hate anything about the Jets or Jets fans, even you - that's just you putting words in my mouth again. Hate is destructive and in life's grand scheme should be reserved for the most important issues. What somebody eats for breakfast is more important than what the Jets do. Question whatever the hell you want to, just give up on telling others what they should do. I have half a century of experience and reasons for waiting to see what the Jets do before I fly off over the rainbow. "Wait and see" is not negativity - it is dealing with reality.

Talk about the Jets! At least have a Jets related point in there someplace. Yes, I know you keep saying wait and see, wait and see. So then what's the point of having a message board if everything is about wait and see? Are we not allowed to get excited about players we draft, our new scheme, HC, GM and the fact we have 2 firsts and 2 seconds?

My other posts all Jet-related points in there but you never have a conversation about that.

Basically what you're saying is that I'm not allowed to pose a question to you about why you're so negative because it is your right to be anything you want to be. Well, the last part is true, but if you post something I disagree with I'm going to question it. All you do is respond with wait and see, wait and see without giving any concrete reasons why. Yes, it is your right to answer any way you see fit but again, this is a MESSAGE BOARD where if you post something publically, you should expect to get a response, right? Often times those that respond will not agree with you since we tend to overlook most of the things we agree on.
