I was really patient with this one and just kept adding more picks and value by making a ton of trades (all down): 34 Gregory Rousseau EDGE Miami (FL) 45 Wyatt Davis OG Ohio State 52 Asante Samuel Jr. CB Florida State 57 Rondale Moore WR Purdue 66 Alim McNeill DT North Carolina State 71 Jalen Mayfield OT Michigan 76 Jevon Holland S Oregon 82 Joe Tryon EDGE Washington 86 Dylan Moses LB Alabama 90 Quinn Meinerz OC Wisconsin-Whitewater 91 Brevin Jordan TE Miami (FL) 105 Quincy Roche EDGE Miami (FL) 107 Tyler Shelvin DT LSU 111 Trey Sermon RB Ohio State 119 Kendrick Green OG Illinois 127 Drew Dalman OC Stanford 151 Adetokunbo Ogundeji EDGE Notre Dame 158 Charles Snowden LB Virginia 172 Jamie Newman QB Georgia 230 Alaric Jackson OT Iowa 2022 CIN 2nd 2022 CHI 2nd 2022 DEN 2nd 2022 SEA 2nd 2022 ATL 3rd 2022 CHI 3rd 2022 IND 3rd 2022 CAR 3rd 2022 WAS 3rd 2022 CIN 5th

I'm a "HUGE" Alijah Vera-Tucker fan, just don't believe he will be available at #23. If he's available, JD would be crazy not to select him. He's a future pro-bowl player.
I doubt he'll be there at 23, but IMO if he is its a perfect combination of BPA and need overlapping.
Maybe my favorite, semi-realistic one 2. Zach Wilson, QB, BYU 23. Alijah Vera-Tucker, OG, USC 34. Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State 66. Jabril Cox, LB, LSU 98. Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis 107. Put me in Canton, this draft deserves a gold jacket: 5 Penei Sewell OT Oregon 23 Najee Harris RB Alabama 37 Kadarius Toney WR Florida 47 Alex Leatherwood OT Alabama 60 Asante Samuel Jr. CB Florida State 65 Rondale Moore WR Purdue 84 Jay Tufele DT USC 96 Nick Bolton LB Missouri 105 Kellen Mond QB Texas A&M 146 Adetokunbo Ogundeji EDGE Notre Dame 154 Drake Jackson OC Kentucky 178 Trey Hill OC Georgia 208 Kary Vincent Jr. CB LSU 2022 CIN 1st 2022 NE 2nd 2022 JAX 3rd
So I did one a little off the wall but the idea was to be aggressive in rounds 2-4 giving away later picks and some later picks for 2022 as we have so many picks it makes sense to be agressive 2OA QB Zach wilson - obvious pick at this point 27OA WR Rashod Bateman - I traded away 23OA and 154OA (5th) and 2022 SF 6th for 27OA and 94OA. so by moving down 4 spots and giving up a 5th and future 6th i landed an extra 3rd. Then bateman was too good here to pass up on 34OA OLB zaven collins - I stayed put here since he fell this far and is a top 20 talent in the draft. he starts at SAM for us in base and can play edge in Ni/Di defenses 53OA CB Asante Samuel Jr. - I watched the boards and traded up here to land him. I gave up our 3rd as well as the 3rd I got from trading down in the 1st and a 6th rounder next year 86OA OT/OG Jalen Mayfield - this is the seattle pick we got in the adams trade. I grab mayfield who has slipped a bit but should be able to start at OG for us and maybe become a RT at some point 104OA MLB Cameron Mcgrone - I traded up from pick 107OA in the 4th to get back into the 3rd at the end of day 2 and land our future starting MLB and QB of the defense. I gave up a future 5th in 2022 116OA OG Jackson Carmen - I traded up again to address the o-line. Carmen isn't a protypical fit for our offense but I think he could do well. he's a mauling run blocker who should start at OG in the NFL and should be quick enough for our scheme. I gave up. to move up from 146 to get him, I gave up pick 226 and a future 4th 186OA RB Javian Hawkins - a perfect fit for out scheme. a 1 cut speed back with good vision and a homerun hitter. I stayed put for this pick Future Picks we still have are 2022 NYJ 1st 2022 Seattle 1st 2022 NYJ 2nd 2022 Carolina 2nd 2022 NYJ 3rd 2022 NYJ 7th Basically gave up all the 4-6th rounders next year to move up more this year and had 4 trade ups and 1 trade down. we still have our 5 high picks next year and could trade down if we wanted more mid rounds but you can only have so many picks make the team each year. I got our FQB, a WR1, 2 new starting OGs 2 new starting LBers, a starting CB and a big play RB
Same theory again. trade down with the 23rd pick and use those picks to trade up for more picks in the 2-4 round range and stock up on middle round picks as well as shed picks next year for higher ones. so lots of trade ups after trading down several times from pick 23OA and 34OA to pick 47 and pick 54 essentially 2OA Qb Zach Wilson - Duh 47OA OG Wyatt Davis - starts at OG for us as a rookie and hopefully many years to come 54OA Asante Sameul Jr - perfect fit CB for our defense 68OA MLB Pete Werner - could start at will then take over for mosley in 2022 and the future 80OA RT Walker Little - no impact as a rookie but our future RT when we move on form fant likely 2023. can be a solid backup for 2022 when edoga walks 93OA - Wr Dwayne Eskridge - starter as a punt returner and takes cole's spot in 2022 and crowder spot in 2023 122OA S James Wiggins - depth as a rookie, should take over joyners spot as a starter in 2022 138OA Anthony Schwartz - is linked to the jets and provides a true speedster to take the top off a defense 152OA OG Jaylon Moore - project o-lineman to help the o-line rebuild 162OA EDGE Shaka Toney - situational pass rusher 187OA RB Javian Hawkins - perfect fit RB for our system and more speed on offense on top of the 11 picks here (actually wound up with 1 more then I started with) next year we are down to 7 picks from 11 but I got NYJ 1st Sea 1st NYG 1st NYJ 2nd Car 2nd NYJ 3rd Bal 7th So all our premium picks still plus a 3rd 1st rounder and shedded the mid rounds and late round picks.
much too early 1st draft for fun 1st 15OA Evan Neal OT 1st 23OA Garrett Wilson WR 2nd 38OA Cade Otten TE 2nd 52OA Tykee Smith S 2nd 55OA Tre'vius Hodges-Tomlnison CB 3rd 75OA Tyreke Smith EDGE 4th 120OA Kendrick Duncan Jr S 4th 134OA Keenan Pili LB 5th 173OA Josh Blackwell CB 6th 217OA Nate Landman LB picks next year (2023) 1 NYJ 1 ARI 3 NYJ 4 NYJ 5 NYJ 6 NYJ Followed the same path JD did this year. Shore up the o-line with our future RT to replace fant. he's basically a slightly slower becton and bigger then becton After that grabbed a WR since crowder and cole are FAs . he's a smaller versatile guy. not as fast as moore but similar player to finish out the offensive overhaul added TE cade otten a fast agile TE to work the middle with size After that I loaded up on back 7 on the defense with the exception of 1 edge. I also lost out on a 2nd in 2023 to trade up for an extra 3rd and take smith but I did get an extra 1st back from arizona by trading down and was still able to land neal
It's fun to go back and compare these to what really happened and where guys really went. WRs D'Wayne Eskridge and Anthony Schwartz went a full round or higher than expected.
Some of my regular picks that I was so proud of didn't fare well in the draft. In some of my early mock drafts I got first round picks in rounds three or four.
