People have thousands of posts about Fields, Jones, Trask's red flags. But when flags are mentioned with Wilson, suddenly flags are over rated.
Those guys based on their draft positions relative to others in their class supposedly had less res flags.
Stop it. This is pure lies. We have been over and over on Wilson red flags. We are running in circle... You make it believe like the Jets have just randomly decided to go with him. Actually have we even discussed of Trask's red flags?? Wilson has been very polarizing it seems like 50% are convinced he is the next superstar, 50% believe he is the worst QB that ever played the game. There are no in between... I don't care if we go Fields, Lance, Wilson or even Jones at this point. I just want to talk about our squad building and watch Jets football again.
So let me make sure I understand, is the creator of this title thread telling us Wilson is the next Johnny Maziel? Or they are the next Sanchez? Or not as good as Elway/Mahomes?
I watch every PFF video on You Tube. They have him very highly rated and always say he is worth the # 2 pick. Not sure where this is coming from.
PFF have many analysts. The guy who made that analysis also criticized the Herbert selection last year. He claimed that it was criminal that Herbert was selected at 6th overall and compared him to mid/late round talent. That should tell you how much you should take seriously this analysis.
depends on a lot. that's too far away to worry about. have this season and the offseason and then see where we are at. he also likely goes in the 1st round next year and we probably will have bigger needs then WR
I don't think anyone is saying that. it's more like every prospect has red flags. they are worth nothing but you have to take a risk and draft someone
that line sounds a lot like josh allen and his boom or bust. great arm but tons of red flags. wilson doens't have an allen arm. hell nobody does. maybe mahomes? but it's still above average and his understanding of the game and ability to keep fighting is impressive. his intangibles are great, him quick release, improv skills, and ablility to change angles to get the ball where it needs to be is impressive. his ability to read a defense and go through progressions is far ahead of what is expected for a guy still in college. sure he has his flags but on film he's the most impressive actual QB of the class. the trick is making it consistent and building on it
Who a player faces in college is a big part of why I'll tend to knock on players. A player is an unknown to me if they are going up against the talent level Zach Wilson went up against. It doesn't mean he'll be bad. It just means he hasn't proven himself against challenging conditions. Usually for me it's receivers that are the biggest busts. Players that get overhyped because they are able to outrun and juke mediocre defenders. There's absolutely no doubt Wilson can make the throws. He's proven he can be highly accurate. He's proven he's got the arm. He looks the part. But when the pressure is on against NFL level talent, when receivers can't get as open because they have the best of the best in the world covering them, will he be able to progress through his reads and find the one guy who will be open when the ball gets there? Will he be able to do that when NFL caliber DEs/OLBs are barreling down on him? If he at any point starts to tank, will he be able to recover when NY/NJ fans are calling for his head? BYU doesn't exactly have the biggest, toughest fanbase. Welcome to the draft, where no one actually has any idea who will succeed or fail.
watch the CC game. it's only 13 minutes to see all his reps he was playing from behind, no blocking, WRs covered all game, getting beat up, bad penalties, dropped balls. the whole 9 and it was a ranked team (his toughest opponent in 2020) and he still balled out and showed everything you want to see. he kept fighting and making plays
I hope so. This offence that’s coming is really QB friendly but he needs weapons. Davis, Mims and Crowder are going to be big in his development. We need a TE for this offence. I could see a trade or a draft pick used for this position
You and I don't agree often but it is refreshing seeing the agreement on both Saleh and Wilson. I'm excited for this team if we draft Wilson

So what concerns me about your response is that you are completely in the bag on Wilson. Your first few sentences discuss a player that cant stay healthy. The only healthy/full season was this past one. I will admit he had a great year. The issue in reality is that he had 11 really good strong games. How is it possible that a player that had 1 really good year is even in the discussion to be taken at 2 and yet he is a lock for 2. I would rather see a track record of health, improvement, maturation as a team leader. We cant say that about Wilson.
Why does it concern you that I'm totally in on Wilson? In the end, it doesn't matter who I like, but who JD likes, and by all appearances, that's Wilson. Your statement that he can't stay healthy is totally bogus. Wilson injured his labrum in high school. He wasn't injured his freshman year in college, but played with the labrum injury. Following his freshman season, he has surgery to repair it. Then broke a thumb that required surgery, then stayed healthy again this past season. So two out of his three years in college he was healthy. The broken thumb may have been a freak-type injury for all I know, and if he had had spring practice and not had the labrum surgery, who knows, maybe he never breaks his thumb. The reality is NOT that he had only 11 really good strong games. He played very well his freshman season. In spite of playing at only around 75% in 2019, he played well in some games and led his team to OT victories over USC and Tennessee. Wilson is a leader, and he made great improvement from 2019 to 2020. So your whole post is full of bogus nonsense. I'm happy to discuss anything with you, but at least get your facts right. Then we can have some kind of meaningful discussion.
