Just out of curiosity, why not? Based on draft value charts the Jets would make out by almost 140 points and be in line for a top 3 OL prospect.
Because you would be giving our hated rivals virtually two first-round picks to snap up all kinds of prospects that are falling in the #23 - #34 band, of course, we know Jd isn't bothered about that as we traded with the Pats last year did we not? Anyway, that was my reasoning
Sal Capaccio on Twitter: "Todd McShay, on Ryen Russilo’s podcast, says he’s hearing the Bills are trying to move ahead of the Jets (25) and Jaguars (23) to draft Clemson RB Travis Etienne Click for audio sent to me by and h/t to @pordyngus. https://t.co/juWMFUmS4p" / Twitter
when did we trade the #23 to the Jags? When they can't even get the simple things right but you are still expected to believe their 'insider info' lol
Potential trade partner Titans only have 4 picks (22, 53, 85, 100) and said they are looking to increase their draft picks total.
Suggesting that the Jets also get a 22nd pick from Titans for a 2nd Rd and potential next years 3rd rounder and a late rounder?
The #34 pick has real sniping potential in the draft this year. I doubt the Jets try to consolidate it into a 1st rounder by giving up multiple picks. I could see the Jets trying to trade up a couple of spots, maybe 3 at the outside to get into the 5th year option range on the pick. They'd probably try to flop other picks to make the move up, given the top of the round status for those picks in each of the rounds. As an example: the Ravens have the 31 pick which is worth 600 pts on the chart. The Jets 34 is worth 560 pts. The difference between their 4th round picks is 52 points which is close enough for Douglas to make the offer. Maybe the Ravens say yes and maybe they say no.
As great as I think drafting Etienne or Harris would be, I don't think it's wise. I think our Oline, at the moment, is a "flight risk" to Zach to start the season. We need to concentrate on keeping him safe. Use #23 and #34 on two solid lineman. Or package #23 and a 3rd to move up and get a better lineman. If we can come away with something like Vera-Tucker and Creed Humphrey I would be ecstatic. McGovern will be better in this system as well. Becton, Tucker, McGovern, Humphrey, Fant is a very respectable line and we can develop some of the younger guys behind them. Feeney is a great backup as well. We can go into the year with the weapons we have now and add talent to coach up in the later rounds. Getting young, talented Olinemen via free agency is becoming impossible....they are becoming like QB's to get in free agency. When they are available, they cost stupid money as well. Drafting Oline is becoming common sense.
I remember that but think the reference to a "big trade" at that point was JD trading either Darnold or the #2 pick...This will be a great draft to watch, still betting on adding that extra #3 somehow to give them six picks in the first three rounds...
Yes I agree but Gronk is up there with the best ever and has a gold jacket waiting for him 5 years after he retires
Yes but he was already in the HoF before Kelce started to be a 1000+ yard receiving threat and they are the same age is my point
That whole patriots draft class was suck beside Brady but we should never trade up because one time something good happened? Ok.
Yeah we should never trade up if it leaves us short draft picks. We've done that repeatedly over the years. It's one of the main reasons the Jets are a laughing stock. Now, that said, the Jets and Pats have made exactly the same number of 6th and 7th round picks since 2001. It's the earlier picks where they bury us with the numbers. They do this because we trade up so much...
We are not short on picks. 21 picks in the next 2 years. No chance 21 draft picks are going to make the next 2 rosters.
