Me not wanting us to draft Wilson has nothing to do with the fact that if you're offered a mixture of 4-6 first and second round draft picks for a singular player, you do it and you don't ask questions unless he is Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning. And only Peyton truly worked out. I'd say Elway too but I am not old enough to have seen him.
It's more a success thing than an employment or future of family thing. JD is quite wealthy off of the guaranteed contract already. The question is does he wind up in a personnel dept somewhere in his next gig or as a GM? If he fails as the Jets GM it is likely the last GM position he will hold.
Just like all of the posts on guards who can be subjectively ranked in different sequences and knowing this one will be there, this one won't be there, etc.
I agree with that. Zach Wilson does not have the pre-draft hype or resume to back up not turning down that offer. Which is the reason why an offer like that would not be made for the #2 pick. Which is the reason why this discussion is pointless. You haven't even seen Elway??? He had a cannon for an arm. I'm getting old.
#2 Wilson #19 Jenkins (JD trades up 4 spots with Washington to leap over the Bears and secure the OL he wants) Just a hunch.....and he won’t be trading #34 in the deal....
Okay, first my realistic prediction: #2 - Wilson #23 - Jenkins hopefully, Creed if Jenkins is gone Now for some wild speculation: Douglas trades back to #4 with Atlanta for Matt Ryan and their 2nd and next year's 1st. Then JD takes Fields at #4 and for the sake of simplicity, Jenkins/Creed at #23.
Why would we do that? We would be getting the 4th best QB since 3 teams just passed on the magical Fields. I hate Matt Ryan. His contract sucks too.
I don't "know" it. It's just my opinion, and I clearly stated that. My opinion is based on the fact that I think Jenkins is a better player than AVT and I have seen several rumors that said that the Jets supposedly love Jenkins. They could be only the normal smoke and rumors at this time of year, but it's very easy for me to understand why it could be true because I've watched a lot of film of Jenkins, he is a great prospect, and his playing style is very similar to Becton. I also think that AVT will be more limited to just OG in the NFL, whereas, I think Jenkins could be great at either OG or RT.
I love Jenkins. Mauler with a nasty attitude...great base and strength, great with his hands and athletic. I would love to be able to nab him after we draft Zach.
There's an out on Ryan's contract after 2021. He could be the QB this year, which would allow Fields to take over in 2022.
That would blow up the draft, could be the way to go. Wilson to 49ers. The bears trade up for Fields, Bengals either Sewell or Pitts . If Bengals take Sewell, the phins select Pitts . If the Bengals select Pitts , the pins trade back with Denver
