I agree with you Red Menace...I am NOT a Lance guy at all....but I think the argument is that Lance has a much higher ceiling than Geno had coming out of college.
Firstly. Anything can happen In the draft. Every single year, there Is always someone, sometimes multiple someone's, that everyone thinks will never make It to their team, but, they slip. Every year. No exceptions. However. The thread title Is... Predict the first two round picks. It's not predict the two picks at 2 and 23. Who says we don't trade up potentially?
Denver is not trading 4 first-round picks plus whatever else. I did not propose the offer. I said I would have to consider a great offer but then it would completely change my mindset heading into the draft. It's a HUGE move to not take Wilson after you're planning on taking him and building the team around him. Plus we have 2 firsts & 2 seconds next season, so you get your QB now, solidify your OL and then hopefully get 4 really good players next season. We also have tons of flexibility as it stands now with the picks we already have to fill in the missing pieces. You just want all to get all cute with the trading down instead of trusting the coaching staff & management to get the right QB. You're going to have to work out your issues with drafting Wilson. It is not my issue. I want him. We have #23. Trade up if there's someone you want. We have #34. Trade up down sideways whatever. It is its lucrative pick that would bring back serious value. I want to trade back in round 2. My strategy Draft Wilson Trade 23 with Arizona at 16 Draft Koramasu or best OL if that blazing terror from ND is gone. Complete game-changer on defense. Makes the entire team better. Round 2 TRADE BACK. Pick is worth a ton with slobbering gms up all night salavating over the players who fell out of round 1.
If Denver trades up to #2 from where they are the trade will probably look like: #2 for #9, #40, #191 and the Broncos 1st in 2022. If this was a big sellers market I'd say the Jets could get more but the 49ers shut down that market with their trade up.
I doubt that. I think JD would leap at an opportunity to avoid making the QB pick at #2. I'm guessing he feels somewhat hemmed in at the moment and not so happy in that state.
Selah's team have taken DL in the first round 3 out of the last 4 drafts. We are modeling our rebuild around that team. JDs last stop in Phily they took DL in the first round 1 out of his 2 drafts there, the other pick being Wentz. So between these two that is 4 out of the last 6 first round picks that were DL. Don't be surprised if DL is the pick at 23.
This was the biggest sellers market I've ever seen. JD was the one that slept on it so he has nobody to blame but himself. I don't think he would take the deal you offered when Phily was essentially offering the same to move back to 6, and he wouldn't talk to them.
Would you gamble the immediate future of your employment and your family on the chance of Zach Wilson becoming an elite quarterback for the Jets?
