Well we all agree on the Jets. I think we all agree on JD. Wilson vs Fields is not the end all be all.

  3. “Zach Wilson may not have elite level arm talent but he does have a quick release, presence, offensive command & can climb the pocket. If that skillset translates to the NFL he could be an optimal system fit in the Shanahan system which could result in a top 12 NFL QB capable of winning championships if properly surrounded .

The red flags are plentiful & are far from foolproof. While due dilligence has been done,Any of them could be a dealbreaker long term. Its a massive gamble.Boom or bust. Still,we’re banking on the scheme fit & specifically his quick release/intermediate accuracy combined w being properly surrounded as leading to great long term success. Its just as important to surround him w protection & dynamic playmakers as it will be for hom to prove his critics wrong & become a great leader”

Thats what ive been begging to hear from you guys all offseason.A reasonable, realistic synopsis of why this is the right move. I wrote that & i only half believe it.

How come instead all we’ve heard is about offf the charts arm talent & unrealistic comps followed by demeaning any possible discouraging word?

A truly great QB has no comp & his own unique style of play.

    All offseason i waited.

If Wilson is the pick, we must get him a target named Dennis so he can say this.

Well obviously he means Wilson could also struggle on an awful team.

Got any Bill Walsh's in your back pocket to help the Jets out or do you think they will find their own somehow?

Some teams cannot take risky developmental QB's because they do not know how to develop them. The Jets are this kind of team.

I think a bit of both to be honest. Bad team number one and speed of the game is tough for a rookie QB coming from a team like BYU. Fortunately we have JD building around him and an abundance of picks the next 2 years. Ideally it would of been nice to ease him in behind a vet for at least half a season to get up to speed. This will take time and there will be a learning curve.

After watching this (again) you wonder how JD could draft anyone BUT Justin. Some of those throws were amazing. His last 2 TDs the ball was in the air over 60 yards and came down right in the hands of his WR running full speed. Amazing throws. His first TD in the the 3rd qtr was a BULLET in a teeny tiny window to his TE 88. Speaking for TE, I forgot how much Justin uses his TEs. This alone has to make LaFleur salivate. It's gonna be a really tough call for #2.

If he is overhyped it’s certainly not just the fans doing the overhyping. It’s also the GMs, scouts and media.

I think Wilson supporters have been open about his red flags in general, I don't see many of us acting like he's completely flawless to be honest.. The injury concerns are valid, however I'm sure our front office has thought about them too and have consulted with doctors. I won't pretend to be an orthopedic surgeon. If the doctors JD and co. have consulted with have given them the green light then I will accept the doctor's views because they know a lot more about torn labrums than I do.

The character thing I don't consider a concern for Wilson or Fields. I think both were rumors without merit and were possibly leaked in the hopes one or both of them would fall in the draft.

The level of competition thing is the most valid concern in my opinion. I believe Borat has pointed out that the defenses Wilson faced last year weren't that bad, they were roughly in line with the defenses that Fields or Lawrence faced or maybe slightly worse. When we combine that with the fact that Lawrence and Fields had better surrounding talent it's a good enough explanation for me. I understand that isn't good enough for some people to look past it.

  14. You’re right but this comes w the territory. The machine will always create drama & in many cases elevate QB2 when QB1 going 1 is a foregone conclussion. Just the way it goes.

So what do you propose the Jets do at the position? Do you expect to find a less risky option at QB next year with a lower draft pick?

The NFL draft is an inexact science. You’d be hard pressed to find a QB prospect over the last 25 years who didn’t have red flags.

I agree with you, you are not a terrible evaluator, and you possess greater knowledge of College football than anyone here, aside perhaps Vilma, whose opinions I also enjoy to read. However, as much as you are convinced in your beliefs, what if you are wrong? I understand you feel you know more than me and others on this board, but there are SB MVP QBs, former Pro QBs with excellent record, respected QB coaches who actually studied tape at length and they are also my Wilson buddies. The truth is, you could be wrong just as much as I can. This is not exact science. We will eventually find out if the Jets made a horrible mistake, the best decision in the history of franchise, or somewhere in between... If you are still a Jets fan by then, you'd better hope I and my Wilson buddies are right.

  20. You dont need to put me on a pedastal. That was never the point. Im not perfect nor do i pretend to be. Im not trying to sell a brand or boost my own ego. Please understand that.

Am perfectly comfortable being wrong.Being wrong is natural. I dont run from it.

But eval accuracy is something taken extremely seriously. While Its an inexact science & an art form, its Still something that fuels a great deal of passion in me. Remaining neutral & not bias but not fighting convictions esp when they occur repeatedly is paramount. While you strongly disagree w my take i hope you & others dont think its political; That i dont like BYU players or something petty. Its purely based on repeated studying of his tape while keeping in mind his background.Itd obv be alot easier to anoint the guy we are likely drafting than the current situation.

While its unreasonable to hold others to that same standard..when these discussions get heated & alot of hyperbole gets thrown around its easy to get frustrated.
