Zach claimed to have tweaked his hammy a little bit few weeks back like a month ago as he was getting ready for 40 yard dash, so he decided not to run 40 on his pro day just in case and focus on throwing. There was no injury. He said he will run 40 after pro day and have some scout clock the speed, like Fields did a week ago. 10:40 On below tape:
Are you being sarcastic? I ask because I have been saying this about the Dolphins and it’s falling on deaf ears. They did a decent job and their record shows that improvement but it’s not like they are separating themselves by leaps and bounds.
That defense will not be the same as it was this past year either. Turnovers do not repeat themselves year to year. Look at Chicago a few years ago when they had 22+ takeaways. Miami has 7 or 8 wins written all over them.
Fair enough points. Personally I'd like to see a QB at #2, I'm fine with either/any QB, whoever the staff likes best. I'm not sold on Darnold as a Jet, and the contract situation makes drafting and resetting almost a no brainer. My friend feels the opposite, would love to stick with Darnold and trade down/build around him.
They're good players, better than Brady Christensen, who's BYU's best O-lineman. But OSU also went up against better pass-rushers than BYU did.
I don’t believe the article is claiming racism as much as asking the question. You have to a knowledge that racism played a big part in the limited number of black QBs up until now. The idea they weren’t smart enough to process the field and they should stick with running the ball, is steeped in racism. Do you at least agree with that?
I think the posters like @KurtTheJetsFan bring up valid red flags and worries about Wilson, but I also think Joe Douglas is a good talent evaluator and that Robert Saleh and Mike Lafleur know what they want in a QB. If they are all on board with Zach Wilson, and he has passed all of their tests, I trust their decision. It must be a strong support for Wilson too to not even entertain trade calls that involve 3 1st round picks. I am excited to see what he can bring to the Jets. The positives outweigh the negatives to me.
Yeah I hadn't heard that until I now just listened to the NFL feed of the session. Yes, it doesn't lessen the injury concern meme, still I would take the gamble for the high upside.
He has upper tier arm talent w/ proficiency at throwing off platform. I knew that before the pro day. So I didn’t really learn anything there. After filtering through all the orgasmic reaction from the peanut gallery, I would say I was WOW’d by only one of his throws. It’s the one that’s all over social media deservingly so. It’s where he’s rolling/fading left and flicked it across his body for a perfectly thrown feathery touch 40-50 yard bomb. How many times is a throw like that needed or advised in a game, season or career? I’d say not many. I was surprised at some of the misses (ground ball, under/over throws). I’ve seen them on tape but didn’t expect any in a well manicured self prepared vacuum such as this. It will be interesting to see if the pundits dismiss Fields’ miss throws at his pro day as they did today.
There is a difference between QB friendly and an offense that doesn't rely on the QB. That's been my statement. Not that the scheme over the years has been QB friendly. It's been a run heavy scheme for decades. The offense has changed since Ryan Day took over though. It's not a traditional QB friendly offense now either but It's more of a spread offensive scheme that relies on athletic play from the QB and 1-2 reads from the pocket. It's not QB friendly offense In the traditional sense. Similar to what we are about to have with the WC Shannahan offense. I've never claimed that to be the case.
Ill reserve judgement till i see the other draft picks. But short of more skill help/IOL at # 23/day 2,if Wilson is the pick, again im not gonna troll other’s excitement but it will affect my overall opinion of JD & perhaps Saleh to a certain extent..proof will be in the pudding however
I’m going to be behind whatever JD decides. I have no choice but to. For his own job security he better make the right choice. I’m just a bit annoyed at this Wilson is head and shoulders above Fields narrative machine that’s picking up steam.
Thank you, yes, Lance was crucified by somebody on here for missing 6 throws, I thought his pro day wasn't much different to Wilson's tbh but then what can you really gage from shorts and no pressure except what you make for yourself in nerves. Be interesting to see what happens at Fields pro day, I have to admit that I lack the knowledge of a lot on here on the intricacies of touch etc but Fields didn't impress me in those two games before his amazing game and that is what worries me. I watched a few of Darnold's when the suck for Sam mantra was at its peak and he left me cold, I wanted Barkley or Mayfield lol
I honestly think the Wilson stans are being more fair in their analysis than the anti Wilson crowd. By and large we readily admit the red flags for Wilson and have been consistent that we also like Fields. I don't see Fields stans ever admitting that he has any legitimate question marks.
I'm just trying to wrap my head around the fact that people view Wilson and Fields as THAT far apart that there are "stans" for each. I think both are boom or bust. I think Wilson has more boom potential, I think Fields has more bust potential. But we're all lying to ourselves if we're pretending that we know which is gonna be which.
I personally think thst Davis is overrated In terms of being a good NFL guard. I felt like he was exposed more times than not against the good defenses that OSU faced. Josh Myers I think could be a good center with some work. I don't believe he is there yet though. I thought the guy we just lost In Pat Elflein to the Panthers was a better center prospect coming out of OSU. If that says anything. I wouldn't take either honestly. I think there are better options for us.
