I think this is the result of teams knowing the Jets are taking Wilson.

San Fran probably knows Douglas is sold on Wilson and they jumped up to grab Fields.

 

It means they are happy with either or like Mac was. I don’t agree with this approach when it comes to QBs.

 

I don't think Lance is in the conversation. If they pass on Fields, it would have to be Mac. Btw, this shows the value of a high pick in this draft, precisely because of good QB class. 3 first rounders, including #12, and a 3d for #3 overall. That is a haul. And that's just to get a QB that will be left over after us.

I've gotta think the 9ers tried to trade for our pick before targeting #3. This basically confirms we're taking a QB and are not trading the pick. The only question is which one.

No way the Jets weren’t contacted about this deal. They’re not going to trade down unless someone offers more (how can they than 3 #1sts?).

Jets QB talk is officially OVER. No way Joe Douglas turns down that deal if he is even 1% sold on Darnold.

In the meantime the trade down king Dolphins are going to continue to keep building a scary team and if Tua busts they are covered. Wilson could turn out to be Mahomes and it will still be years before we catch the dolphins.
