Sam issue is also about the biggest ability and that is availability. In every season he has played he has missed significant time with injuries. I believe this has hurt his development as well. Time to move on the NYJ's have ruined another QB. To me this draft pick comes down to two things the legs of Fields or the Arm of Wilson. I do not like Fields release so I would go with Wilson. Fields might be better out of the gates as he can you use his legs and big frame but he has Trubinsky written all over him as his ceiling.

Again, I am for trading Sam, I just don't get how the fans are so negative towards him. @dawinner127 said it best that he has shown flashes and has the potential to be a good QB. That is what I meant. Clearly, his stats, and W/L record does not reflect what a good QB in the NFL is. I just don't think he "sucks". We have all seen terrible QB's who truly suck. That is not Sam Darnold. Now, he has clearly underachieved for the #3 overall pick. He does deserve blame for his lack of success with the Jets, but the Jets deserve equal blame, if not more, in my opinion. If I was a GM of one of these teams that need a new QB, I would definitely trade a 2nd round pick for Sam. Worth the risk. I would even consider a 1st round pick if I was picking later like the Steelers or Saints. QB's are hard to find in this league, and most teams don't have the luxury that the Jets have this season with a top pick in the draft to acquire one, so you have to take risks like trading for Darnold. It makes sense to me.
Who cares. They have like $50 million tied up to KG, Leo, and Jackson this year and They overpaid for all 3 of them. They are trying to win now when they need to rebuild but gettleman is trying to save his job. They went 7-9 last year in the worst Division of all time.. they aren’t even going to be in contention for a playoff spot. They play the NFC south and AFC west. Goodluck.
You mean like Robby Anderson? Or Jamison Crowder and Demaryius Thomas? I mean he hasn't had top tier talent but to claim he has had sub NFL level weapons is not true.
He went (7-6) with the weapons you just listed. That is not too bad. It's slightly above average, which is what I think Sam is as an overall QB. Factor in he was battling mono, and it is even more impressive. And he clearly did have sub-NFL level talent to work with at WR in 2020 with all of the injuries to the Jets WR's. Plus no off-season to get comfortable with Mims or Perriman.
On balance. If you only have one "legitimate" weapon, it's simple for the defense to shut you down. So, yes, it IS true. Not to mention that none of those guys will even wind up in the Jets HOF, let alone Canton.
Excellent point, and one that hasn't been mentioned enough imo. He has yet to play every game of the season. Will he ever manage to stay healthy? Even if he was very good, I'm not sure how much good a QB is if he misses 3-4 games every season for one reason or another.
I disagree. Anderson was decent, but nothing great. Thomas was a shell of the player he was with Denver and had a problem with drops. Herndon had major drops this past season. This would have been the first year or will be the first year that Darnold would/will have above-average, good WRs 4 deep.
Sam has never had an actual #1 WR. He has a few barely average #2s with a decent slot guy. If we were a ball control offense that could have been acceptable. In Gase's offense it was a joke. Add to that mediocre protection to find these average, no separation receivers, and its tragic. Anyone who tries to pretend like Sam didn't get a shorter end of the stick then any top 10 QB pick in the last decade is just being a hater.
Nah, not slow nor not understanding. More so that you claimed Darnold had sub par NFL talent at WR, then proceeded to argue that the guys I mention, all of which are on par with other NFL talent, are not Canton bound. More like moving goal posts that fall in line with the always moving Darnold ones
