Second try. I tried gambling that a QB I'd want would be there at my second (or even third) pick, and wound up with Jones and have mixed feelings about that, but I do think I reaped a pretty good collection of talent in areas of need: New York Jets 2. Devonta Smith WR Alabama 23. Mac Jones QB Alabama 34. Javonte Williams RB N.C. 66. Trey Smith OG Tennesee 86. Shaka Toney Edge Penn State 107. Camryn Bynum CB California 147. Matt Bushman TE BYU 160. Kendrick Green OG Illinois 188. Jonathan Adams, Jr. Arkansas St. 200. Joshua McmIllon LB Alabama
In this scenario the Jets can probably pass on Jones at 23 and still get him at 34. This would allow either more talent on the #23 or a trade down for more picks.
I like this one. HR hitting receiver, HR hitting RB and another top WR at 38. Desperately needed offensive help for Darnold. Not a fan of taking Edge so deep in the draft. If they were any good at getting to the QB, they would be gone at the top of the draft. Maybe a better choice would be ILB or DE's. I would say the same for the CB's except that I'm not familiar with these guys, so may be like Hall last year, there was a reason they dropped. At least, they better have speed, because without that they will be useless in the NFL.
Maybe, but that's the risk you take. If the Jets had a serviceable QB that I trusted, I might've gambled a bit more, but they need a FQB, and Jones was third behind Wilson and Lawrence so I was happy to grab him there. EDIT: Also, while I didn't include them, I did trade back and picked up a first and second in 2022, and an additional 4th rounder in this draft.

This was pretty fun. I went with trade back after trade back knowing I was going to target Mac Jones with a late 1st round pick or our first 2nd round pick. In every draft I acquired at least two 1st, two 2nd and two 3rd 2022 picks and had two late first round picks this year averaging between 23 - 32 and gaining two 2nd round picks this year which I used to build around Sam. My thought was we either get Jones with a cheaper pick and he sits behind Sam for a year or if we miss on Jones we just stick with Sam. Plus, if Sam turns it around we could possible trade Jones down the road, similar to what the Patriots did a few times. With Sam missing games every year it wouldn't hurt to have two starting caliber QBs on the roster. That was my plan and I feel it could work if the Jets want to stick with Sam for one more year, plus it gives us Jones who I feel could be a good NFL QB down the road, if not sooner. I like Wilson, but his injury history does worry me, and the value we could get for him is HUGE.
I like this draft a lot. I built a world class defense, added a bunch of picks for next year, and still added four impact players on offense. 18 Gregory Rousseau EDGE Miami (FL) 34 Christian Barmore DT Alabama 41 Zaven Collins LB Tulsa 43 Jayson Oweh EDGE Penn State 49 Asante Samuel Jr. CB Florida State 52 Greg Newsome II CB Northwestern 66 Dillon Radunz OT North Dakota State 67 Michael Carter RB North Carolina 70 Dylan Moses LB Alabama 72 Brevin Jordan TE Miami (FL) 83 Jevon Holland S Oregon 108 Tyler Shelvin DT LSU 116 Kellen Mond QB Texas A&M 154 Rodarius Williams CB Oklahoma State 179 Larry Rountree III RB Missouri 2022 SF 1st 2022 CHI 2nd 2022 TEN 2nd 2022 DET 2nd 2022 LAR 2nd 2022 ARI 3rd 2022 HOU 3rd 2022 NYG 3rd 2022 NYG 5th

Just did a PFN mock for the first three rounds Simulator offered the Dolphins 6th 18th and 50th picks for # 2, which I accepted Dolphins then took Sewell, 49ers Wilson, Falcons Fields and Bengals Pitts Here are my Jets' picks: 6 Ja'Marr Chase (although thinking hard about Smith) 18 Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina 23 Najee Harris RB Alabama 34 Mac Jones QB Alabama 50 Wyatt Davis G Ohio State 66 Elijah Molden CB Washington 86 Jackson Carman OT Clemson
