“The Mets, when contacted by The Athletic, said that in August 2018 – about 10 months after Callaway joined the organization – the team learned of an incident that took place before it hired him. The team investigated that matter, a spokesperson said, but declined to reveal the nature of the incident, the outcome of that probe or whether Callaway was disciplined. Callaway continued managing the rest of the season.” Not a good look! Not a good reflection on Sandy that the last two hires appear to be pervs.
Twitter starting to heat up about Bauer to the Mets. One says yeah the others says not so fast but looking likely. I guess we will know tomorrow.
He apparently playing game on his website with both Dodgers and Mets gear? A little Showmanship I guess.
Good. He’s not worth the drama. Now the off-season is a failure, annoying freak outs will commence though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sure put a hole in the theory of we can have any player our owner is the richest. ha ha ha. If a player doesn't want to come here, they don't want to come here. This off season has been annoying though. It was all the Mets are 99.9% getting said player only for it not ending up being the case. From that stand point I'm sure other fan base are having a bit of a laugh at us. lol
I’m happy with the off season. Just because you have the $ doesn’t mean you spend stupidity. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not that I think that this was necessarily the reason not to sign him, but everything he has done his entire career, right up to a few hours ago on Twitter, screams two words to me: massive douche. The only people who would claim that not signing either him or Realmuto means that this has been a failed offseason are people who don't like hedge fund billionaires. From a baseball point of view, neither result is particularly objectionable.
Mets reach deal with Albert Almora, Jr. All glove, no bat. Still young. https://sny.tv/articles/mets-have-r...JxGFgsdh--KcjwQDGCTVAEMFd7idjYAdeafFqKRGGWk1I
Comes in for defense late in games, Nimmo moves to LF & Dom to 1B. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Unless he Unless he gets a significant injury, he will make 85 M for two years and then opt out. No way the Mets should have given him a similar contract. Giving Bauer 5-10 million per year more than DeGrom would have been insane, and probably a real issue in the clubhouse. Bauer before last year (60 games) was a good pitcher, who ate up innings.
There's no CF available that's a better offensive player than Nimmo. No DH? is gonna have to be Dom in left and Nimmo in center. So Almora is 4th OF option. Can't hit good glove. JBJ doesn't view himself as a 4th OF. Certainly doesn't want the years or the $ of that role.
I'm still hopeful that MLB and the MLBPA can make a deal that includes the DH. This is amazing to me as a long-time baseball "purist," but two different systems has always been ridiculous, and there's no question that the Mets would benefit from it being in the NL.
I still think they end up making a deal for it. I never wanted it either but it’s just inevitable at this point. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
