Disagree. I'd give it a C and here is why 1) darnold - probably moving on from him and considered a bust. F 3) Shepard - very solid D-lineman. he's been outshined by a few but he's starting material in the 3rd round. B 4) Herndon - hard to grade. based on his rookie season i'd give him an A, based on last season a D. he was injured year 2. For now i'll grade it a B as he's still a starting TE who flashed big potential in the 4th round 6) Nickerson - been bounced around the league and oft injured. currently on IR for the packers - F 6) foley - excellent DT and a steal in the 6th round. has outplayed shepard as well. likely our starting DT this year and started last year while posting a great PFF grade and wreaking havok. A 6) cannon - didn't pan out as a RB but as a 6th rounder is an excellent gunner and special teams player. that's good value in the 6th round. B overall it was a solid draft. darnold obviously didn't work out which hurts the grade but remove darnold and you got 2 starters (herndon and foley) a good special teamer (cannon), and a good back-up d-lineman mostly in the 6th round.
Darnold isn't an F. That is ridiculous. Have you seen how many QB's truly are busts in the 1st Round and deserve F's? That is not Sam. If you factor in what the Jets traded for him, and the results of the 3 seasons, I guess you could give him an F-, but that is not how you should evaluate players. I would give Sam a C, based on the disaster of the 2020 season. Besides that, I would give him a B or B+ so far. Unfortunately a B QB can't carry a bad roster with a bad Head Coach. Need to be an A+ QB to do that.
foley is our starting DT, shepard is a rotational DT, Herndon is a starting TE, cannon should have never been cut. that was an awful move. nickerson had potential but can't stay healthy. that's fair. maybe a D for darnold. it sucks because a lot of it isn't his fault. mono, shoulder sprain. innjuries to his WR core. bad coaching. bad o-line. he's been through a lot. it's david carr syndrome. he looked really promising as a rookie
he got lots of practice in 2020. he also may have been the best tackler on the punt coverage team. Also, numerous times he would've had a perfect coffin corner kick but the coverage team was too slow to ever get it downed
Herndon was OK as a rookie, injured his second year and absolutely atrocious this past year. Drops and fumbles galore, with a couple good games at the end of the year to improve the stats. Not to say he isn't worth one more shot next year (probably best as the #2 tightend as he's not much of a blocker either), but a B is very generous.
he was more then ok his rookie year. after the season he was graded as an A for the pick and in the "redraft" they had him going in the 1st round. he was a great pick. he missed season 2 with an injury and in season 3 he was awful until the final 3 games. he could have a big bounce back year.
I misread what you meant. becuase we actually don't have 2 of them anymore (nickerson) but i read it as we only have 1 of them on the team
Fatukasi deserves an A. Cannon B+ who has developed into one of the best ST players in the game. Both have far exceeded expectations of a 6th rd pick. Shepard C. He is a solid rotational player. Slightly better or average than your typical 2nd rounder.
A lot of hard graders here. Some people are treating C as "okay, what you would expect for that draft round." I have no particular objection to that, but I can tell you that any college faculty member who tries to use a C curve in any class these days learns very quickly that that grade is not viewed as "okay" in any way, shape, or form!
INO Becton is over rated as many give him. He s good but has more to learn. He gave up 7 sacks? And was injured? Not saying he doesn’t have a bright future and he was worth a pick but he has to getting quicker and healthier. With a year under the belt he has a bright future. Mims fell off in the late 2nd season and again has lot to prove for next year to show us he s legitimate. Just like Q where many said he was a bust, give these guys a chance to develop.
Bechton: A - Could of been A+ if he was healthy Mims: B - I think a B might be generous but you can see the talent is there Davis: D - Needs to be better and stay healthy Zuniga: D - Probably a bust Perine: D - 3rd down passing back at best Clark: F - Bust Morgan: D - We’ll see bust most likely a back up at best Hall: A - Looks like a 5th round starter Mann: C - up and down season Wilson: F - Bust I give JD a C+ so far on this class
man tough crowd. i know we're desperate but Ds and Fs to guys we didn't see throw a pass or take the field. i would grade those incomplete. i agree with the posts that say wait a year or better yet two. Among other things we were a hot mess last year and that seems to have a compounding effect
I mean most rookie WR would get shut down by White. I love Mims upside once he improves his route running.
