Let's not get carried away here. I'm not totally sold on Fields but he'd basically have to be the worst QB in the NFL over his first 3 years to be as big a bust as Sam. And we traded up for Sam.
i'm saying what he is doing is worse then what jamaal did here and we all hated him for it. that's all
Houston Texans were a train wreck last year with years of mismanagement all coming to a head, resulting in the HC/GM getting fired mid season. Deshaun won 10 & 11 games in the two seasons prior. The Jets are far from a train wreck right now. They have a GM that is widely respected throughout the league and now a HC that is gettting praised from every direction. You bring in Deshaun Watson to be the face of the franchise and all of a sudden guys like Allen Robinson want to play for Jets. Deshaun Watson with a couple more additions and the Jets are instant playoff contenders.
Let's look at the past 21 seasons of Jets QB play. 5 seasons with the starting QB finishing with a passer rating of 85 or better. That magical feat was accomplished by 3 quarterbacks: Josh McCown, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Chad Pennington (3 times). We had 8 seasons during that period where the starting QB completed 61% or more of their passes. Darnold (1), McCown (1), Favre (1), and Chad Pennington (5). Most touchdowns thrown in a season during that time: Fitzpatrick '15 (31) Sanchez '11 (26) Favre '08 (22) Pennington '02 (22) Testaverde '00 (21) The rest were all less than 20. This year Darnold finished with a 77.6 passer rating. That beats 11 other seasons during that span. The QB play for the Jets has been atrocious since 2000. Who was our best QB during that span? Pennington? Fitz for one year? It's sickening. Yet here we are debating if we should build our team up first before we address the QB position because apparently those grow on trees. Pursue a trade for Watson. Draft a QB with the #2 Trade back and still draft a QB in the first. Give me any of those because I can't stand watching shitty QB play for much longer. I've been watching this team since 1985 and the last QB we had that was decent for more than a year was Pennington and he was hurt every other year. Before him you have to go back to Ken O'Brien! Address the QB position.....this off-season. Please. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I'm all for Deshaun. It's just a shame his contract is ridiculous. As for the Texans losing, there defense was absolute garbage, and they couldn't manage the clock. Texans averaged 25min vs Opponents who had 35 minutes on average. That 10min difference is pretty damn significant for keeping Deshaun off the field.
the texans sold out for those wins. much like the jets when mac 1st got hire. they leveraged the future to try and get a SB by watsons year 2. now they will pay for it over the next 5 years. If we sell the farm for watson we would be just like the texans are. no picks, no cap room. bad situation. really depends on the cost but i'd easily say no to 3 1st rounders + more like they want. remember once upon a time watson was the 12th overall pick.
I didn't hate Jamal for it because he had a legit complaint and he didn't make a commitment. If he would have did it after signing I would want him scrubbed from everything Jets.
His cap hit goes up to $35M (which is a bargain for his production), but the cap increase should offset most of the increase.
Miami isn’t going receiver. And not only is chase better , he’s a better fit for the shanahan run scheme. Need Wrs to block. Not sure 175 is going to cut it in that dept.
No, Adam’s publicly came out against the coach. As far as I’ve seen right now Watson hasn’t said a word.
Smith did it with 3 different QBs and 3 different offenses in college. The thing about Smith is it doesn't matter who is throwing the ball. He delivers. We would have won at least 3 more games with even Sam throwing him the ball last season.
cap isn't increasing. it was supposed to be around 205mil this year and 208-210 mil next year covid happened now it's going to be 175mil for the next few years. players contracts will go down a little. teams lost over 10% of the cap and no room to go up. i'd expect contracts to go down around 10% as a result. either that or more mid tier guys don't get paid and get replaced by lesser cheaper guys
watson started a mutiny with his coach who then got fired, and then came out now and said the president of the team should fire himself
See I’m not sure how you can keep saying over and over again that the Jets would have no picks or cap room? We are like seriously the only team in the league that can give up 3 1st rd picks and still have a pick in every round for the next two years. Same for cap, we aren’t paying anyone! Like the stars couldn’t align any more perfect for the Jets, assuming of course the Texans do indeed trade him. It’s mind boggling to me that anyone would be against bringing in a top 5 QB just entering his prime years.
If Miami is smart they would go Sewell. But they really need a playmaker at WR and its likely a decision they are struggling with. After evaluating them both I can honestly say Chase isn't better. Its not even that close.
I can't find it - the only thing I see is him at Bleecker Trading, a collectables shop in the west village. His hoodie looks like it has the Jordan Fleer card on it. Is that GV?
First, this is the NFL not college where guys run open all the time. Second, Sam's ball placement would have gotten him snapped in two. No way he makes it through a season with Sam making him lay out for poorly throw balls. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
