It is interesting that you look to the crowd to base your morality on.

When a man signs a contract a man fulfills that contract. When a man signs a contract and then uses the money he got to bail on it, and his team, he is not a man I want leading my team. In fact, he is not behaving like a man, he is behaving like a spoiled child. Watson would likely blow up with one sub .500 season with the Jets - or anywhere he goes.

When you try to discredit Red Menace it discredits you. He is one of the most fair, knowledgeable, and unbiased posters I read around here. More unbiased then I am.

And that's where I stopped reading. No time for this tired and pointless routine.

There is now way in hell I would include the #2 pick in any Watson deal. The jets should be able to move down TWICE in round 1 by trading with QB hungry teams like Atlanta, Chicago or SF, or with a team that wants Sewell or WR Smith. Moving down once or twice from that number 2 pick could give the jets the bonanza of picks they need to make up for 5 years of Mike MacCagnan wasted draft picks. I know this is not a popular position but Sam Darnold was a top 3 pick and has never had a decent coach, RB or WR to work with. I would like to keep the picks, trade down early and often and go with Sam. Watson IS a great player, but if the jets trade for him I would not include the #2 overall. If Douglas is hell bent of trading for DeShaun, the most I would offer is Seattle's two number 1 picks and a high jets pick in 2023. If not enough, then too bad.

Listen, JD is (I think) a smart dude. He is going to kick the tires and if he thinks he can get him on a decent trade he will. If he can’t , he says this is what I would offer, get back to me if you are interested.

it’s a business. Players in the nfl have problems. Watson is a good guy who for reasons we don’t really know about has had enough. He isn’t going to do this twice. If he does it may still be worth the shot. The end.

this can’t be a desperate, hand wringing negotiation.

if TL was in the block, because he would be on a rookie contract, that might be worth more, even though he could technically suck.

Well, someone was catching those 5000 yards of passes. Watch the Waston highlight real from last year...lots of really good catches all over the place.

This idea that Watson doesn't have the character to be a QB on a super bowl contender is ridiculous. He just had about as good a year as a QB can have and they only won 4 games. The team isn't attracting top tier coaches and will definitely be less talented in the next couple years after trading away their top picks and being way over the cap. JJ Watt apologized to him for wasting the year he just had.

What has Watson actually said or done that makes you question his character? Why would anyone be happy with the Texans management at this point?

Deshaun Watson's numbers this year would have set Jets records in yards, touchdowns, interceptions, QB rating, and QB rushing yards. Adding him for 3 1st round picks spread over the next 3 years would be the best move this team has ever made.

If the Jets get Watson, Allen Robinson will follow him here. Robinson, Mims, Crowder, and a rookie WR is better than what the Texans had this year without a doubt. Maybe the Jets can add both Robinson and Samuel but I’m not sure what Samuel will command on the market.

Quick edit: I do believe Watson will be a Jet next season, there’s just too much smoke in my opinion.

Curtis Samuel would be a great fit in this offense. And he's from Brooklyn, too

IF Watson is dealt to the Jets, the #2 pick will be the foundation of the trade on our end.

Is Houston is moving on from Deshaun, they'll want someone to replace him and at #2 you can take your pick from either Fields or Wilson.

Yeah, it'll hard to form a scenario where the #2 wouldn't be included in this deal.

Carton says the Jets reached out to Houston about Watson per his “people”.

Yep. I would love to see him on the Jets. I think we can get him for a solid price tag. He might get something similar to what Anderson got.

Barring a ridiculous asking price, Watson will be a Jet. Too much smoke.

Lol I can't believe he caught about 80% of his targets. That's like Tyler Lockett numbers.

Watson is a top 5 QB but he's also a social justice warrior. He demanded black candidates be interviewed for GM and HC and he claims Texans agreed to consult with him. Watson claims he was left out of the loop, but i've read the Texans' FO tried calling him during that time and he didn't answer or return calls. Things happen fast this time of the year so if you don't answer your phone, ya, you're left out of the loop. Same thing last week, they tried calling him and he didn't answer. I guess they coulda called his mamma and asked her to have her son get back to them, so there's that.

I strongly agree. Everything we've been told about JD is he wants to build it "the right way" and "from the inside out." That all seams to point to a reasonable, hopefully strong, offer - take it or leave it.

Even if he wants to build through the draft he would have to see that Watson is a proven commodity and what you hope a drafted qb can become . That HAS to be worth a 2 or 3 1st round picks, right?
