I was reading something earlier regarding the Tua + picks for Watson swap and it doesn’t seem possible without absolutely crippling that team.

If they trade Tua for Watson the Dolphins would only have 1.7M in cap on top of all the draft picks they’d give up. The Dolphins would have to cut players just to sign their rookie class.

    https://overthecap.com/player/deshaun-watson/5596/

    21: 15.9M
    22: 40.4M
    23: 42.4M
    24: 34.7M
    25: 32.0M

Numbers are different because the Texans carry the signing bonus, right? If that's true, then the numbers would be:

    21: 10.4M fully guaranteed
    22: 35.0M fully guaranteed
    23: 20.0M + 17.0M roster bonus
    24: 32.0M
    25: 32.0M

    That's a big difference.

This is key I think and makes me think the only ones who can help the texans to not look more stupid then they actually are, are the Jets. This year's #2 next year's Seattle 1 and Sam, gives them 3 #1s and a starting QB. They can then trade the two for draft capital if they like Sam or trade Sam for some draft capital if they want to run with a rookie, either way they get their 3 #1s and the ability to generate more picks. Because the 3 Miami has was originally the Texans pick I just don't see Miami as a serious trade partner for them, they just can't do it and if they do they deserve everything that comes their way with Tua busting

I was thinking the same thing. At first, my thought was "Wow! One of the top rated QBs in the league really wants to come here!" But the fact that he is making such a public spectacle about how pissed he is at the Texans suggests selfishness, which is not the quality one wants in a position that is supposed to be a leader. Right now, I'm more in the boat of either grab a QB in the 1st round, or see what Saleh and LaFleur can do with Darnold.

It's all about price. What do the Texans really want? Who knows.

    2021 #2
    2021 #34
2022 higher first round pick Sea/NYJ
    2023 NYJ first round pick

This is a lot but I think it's realistic and gets the job done. And you have to do it. It won't cripple the team.

The 2023 pick doesn't get it done IMO. I think it'll take 3 of the 4 1's we have in the next 2 drafts.

you knew the New York post was going to run with this one. Rightfully so. But it brings me back to the original post that he liked… It wasn’t a post about coming to the Jets it was a post promoting some thing from his marketing manager. He just used the Jets and the back page in his first sentence to grab everyone’s attention. Again, I would love nothing more for than this to mean Watson wants to come play with us but something tells me it had a whole lot more to do with who posted it and what they were promoting.

I'd be a little careful about writing this off to selfishness.

Watson signed a four-year, top-dollar contract extension last year. There's no indication he using this as a ploy to renegotiate. The situation in Houston is so dysfunctional that any player with options would want to get out of there ASAP. The sports media has been full of stories showing how this Easterby character has the owner's ear, in Houston and no one seems to think Easterby has the chops to straighten things out. In fact, a lot of people are pointing to Easterby as one of the primary causes of the dysfunction. I'll bet Watson isn't the only player in Houston who wants out.

Their subreddit is freaking out too. Lots of depressing memes on there. I can't believe the Texans completely botched this situation.

If we do that it will be a decade before we have a shot at a Superbowl.

Can you hook me up with a link to the forum you're searching through? Last night before bed I was thinking about how pissed off Houston fans must be about Harden last week and now this Watson shit going down now (albeit completely different scenarios). Supposedly there is a Watson "march" this week in Houston lol

Atlanta is a darkhorse for Watson. I could see Watson wanting to go back to his hometown.

Someone else mentioned that. They wouldn't even come close to offering something that the Jets could. They have no assets outside of the #4

Mike T. on ESPN this morning said: Two #1's (the #2 overall ?)...a 2nd round pick....and Quineen Williams.

If the #2 overall is included, I am not doing that trade.
