Yes, understood. Considering that the entire franchise is an absolute dumpster fire I think they're just going to take as much capital and blue chip pieces as possible though. It's a complete tear-down and they'd obviously prefer (moreso for optics) to have an opening day starter to sell to their fans, I could see the 49ers deal making sense for them. Bosa would be their new JJ Watt. They conceivably could get Lance/Wilson at 15 or even reach to grab Mac Jones/Trask.
Yeah I don’t buy it. As unlikely as it is Watson moves on, the only way it happens is if the can get a QB. And most likely a rookie is what they would want. I’ll lay it down firm now, if Watson moves it’s Jets or Dolphins, and you can call me out if anything else happens.
In that scenario we keep a first this year and next year, it’s almost as if it’s a normal draft with no extra capital. We would also have 60-70M of cap space to add to the team. I’d rather take my 4 lottery tickets and turn them into the best QB in the league not named Rodgers or Mahomes.
Jets would just offer 3 first rounders with better draft position. Or Dolphins. Throw in a 3rd. Whatever it takes. They just don’t have enough to outbid Jets or Dolphins.
Agreed.. we could definitely out bid them.. 3 first rounders is a lot for us to give up on a team full of holes. I’m thinking 2nd overall + Sea pick 2022 + 34 overall max
We also have the best situation in terms of cap space/building moving forward. Obviously the Dolphins have the better roster for the time being.
No thanks to Julio. We’d have to give up even more draft capital for an injury prone receiver. I’d rather sign A Rob or Kenny G.
I agree. I think many here keep forgetting that we have about 4 players on this entire roster that are NFL caliber starters right now, this team needs to build through the draft and it is not going to happen overnight.
Agreed, no thanks on Julio. Green Bay should offer a second or third for him and close the deal tomorrow though.
Whether it happens or not, this is why you pull the trigger when someone wants to overpay you for a safety. The fact that the Jets are even in the conversation is incredible.
It would be. Imagine how many wide open post route touchdowns he'd catch? It'd be Brady to Randy Moss all over again. But they won't do it. Green Bay doesn't do things like that.
I'm with you man. I was banging the trade Adams drum along with you all that time and nearly got castrated mid-season in 2019 for saying so here.
Send 3 firsts, Darnold and Mosley. I’d walk from Austin to Houston and drop of flowers personally to Caserio and Easterby
I would give up the #2 pick for Deshaun Watson. That's all I would give up. He's signed to an expensive deal. The Texans are in trouble with him. He's had some injury woes. The #2. I'm not going to give them a huge package of picks for what is effectively damaged goods from their perspective. The #2 itself could bring a big haul of picks for a team looking to trade up. I'm not adding it to a bunch of picks in a Herschel Walker like move.
